Dear Ascension Public Schools Families,

As we close out the 2018-19 school year, we want to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer. We are grateful that we have enjoyed yet another great school year with many accomplishments to celebrate. Congratulations to our four feeder systems and the work of our high schools in hosting successful graduations.

We know our students worked hard this year to make progress in all their coursework. We look forward to celebrating their results on state testing, as well as using those results to identify areas where we can serve even better in years to come. We know our teachers put forth great efforts each day to ensure that students were served well. Our teachers are the very best, and the results we get each year is evidence of that hard work. We also know that the quality work that took place this year in classrooms is the result of lots of hard work from many employees who work in various roles outside the classroom. They help create opportunities for quality classroom experiences. We thank everyone for their hard work from August 2018 through May 2019 that allows us to state “we had a good year”.

As it is every year, we have overcome challenges, perhaps some disappointments, and obstacles such as the closing of the Sunshine Bridge. Nevertheless, your commitment to ensure each day is filled with quality experiences for students was not deterred! We are very fortunate in Ascension Public Schools to celebrate many accomplishments, and that is due to the relentless pursuit of excellence and commitment to the lives of children.

hellooooo summerAs always, there is much work to be done in the months we call summer break. We know many of our students will be involved in summer activities, summer trainings, and summer opportunities that enhance their learning and add to their skills and talents in sports, the arts, and many other areas of interest. Many teachers and teacher leaders will be working throughout the summer attending professional development and strategic planning sessions on their own time so that we can pursue making 2019-20 the “best year yet” in Ascension. These summer months are also critical times for non-instructional staff to accomplish a long list of duties in preparation for the next school year. We thank all these individuals who dedicate so much of their own time to ensure our students are served well.

As a final note, we hope all of you take some time this summer to slow down just a bit, enjoy some days off of the normal routines and demands, and enjoy moments with friends and family that become great memories in years to come.

Respectfully,

David Alexander
