STAR STUDENTS
All 1,278 VCSC kindergarten students are the "star" of their very own story, in My Kindergarten Fun Book, which helps build strong literacy skills in our youngest learners. A colorful, educational, interactive, personalized book for every kindergartner in the Vigo County School Corporation is made possible by the "stars" in our story: B & S Plumbing, Heating & Cooling, Duke Energy Foundation, Terre Haute Savings Bank and the Wabash Valley Community Foundation. The sheer joy as each child finds his or her name, school, and teacher throughout the book is a sight to behold! Betty Lanke, who lovingly created this special program over 25 years ago is still an integral part of the program and acted as "emcee" during the kick-off at Hoosier Prairie Elementary.

Students participating in this Foundation-funded project will also receive dual credit through Ivy Tech Community College. Mr. Hammers is also using his grant funds for materials enabling students to build programmable 8 bit computers.
