THE SAVE MOVEMENT AROUND THE WORLD
May 25, 2019.

IN THIS ISSUE:
Save continues to grow all over the world! We now have 664 Animal Save groups in 70 countries listed on our website. We also have 116 Climate Save groups in 42 countries and 29 Health Save groups in 19 countries.
Our Weekly News Update
No mother should have to watch her children taken from them and killed, but that’s exactly what happens to mother cows, pigs, sheep and other farmed animals every single day. All mothers love their babies. In every way that matters, we are all the same.

Please watch these updates on the Meat the Victims action in Netherlands on May 13, during which more than 200 activists entered a pig farm to document the horrors going on inside.
Activists inside the facility, witnessing the horrors that the innocent pigs suffer.
Two of the activists spoke in a Dutch TV round table discussion.

BFBV’s central message is that veganism is a matter of fundamental justice, not a matter of convenience or personal choice. Toronto is now poised to become the eighth city to host BeFairBeVegan’s provocative billboards, challenging both residents and summer visitors to consider the consequences of using products that involve animal exploitation. Please check out these artists impressions below of how the campaign will look. With 2019 being hailed as “the year of the vegan,” this is the perfect time to bring BeFairBeVegan’s powerful vegan message to Canada’s most populous city.

The Climate Save Movement

The Climate Save Movement is building a grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis by ending animal agriculture, reforesting the Earth and phasing out fossil fuels. Help save the planet by going vegan and becoming active. Animal agriculture is a key source of greenhouse gas emissions,
which can all be eliminated entirely. It is also the leading source of ocean dead zones, deforestation, mass species extinctions, and excessive water use. Veganism and reforestation are critical parts of climate actions and, along with eliminating fossil fuels, are our last hope against catastrophic tipping points for our climate.
The climate change crisis is upon us, and we must urgently rise to mitigate  and reverse it. The great news is that there are new Climate Save groups being formed all around the world!
A new Save Tour begins! Organizers Nevenka and Gisela will be visiting Uruguay and Brasil, presenting the new branches (Climate Save Movement & Health Save Movement) through different activities, as well as sharing vigils with existing groups and building community.

Forbes: We Have Five Years To Save Ourselves From Climate Change, Harvard Scientist Says
James Anderson, a Harvard University professor of atmospheric chemistry best known for establishing that chlorofluorocarbons were damaging the ozone layer, says: “The chance that there will be any permanent ice left in the Arctic after 2022 is essentially zero,” with 75 to 80 percent of permanent ice having melted already in the last 35 years. “People have the misapprehension that we can recover from this state just by reducing carbon emissions," Anderson said in an appearance at the University of Chicago. Recovery is all but impossible, he argued, without a World War II-style transformation of industry.

Health Save Movement

Health Save Movement aims to show how veganism can prevent and reverse diseases related to animal products consumption, enhance food justice, and decrease spending on the health crisis.
Activist Simone Scampoli reports from the talk he was invited to give at the Domar Sporting Club in Rome, Italy in front of a classroom of athletes. "We talked about the importance of the plant based diet. Through many slides we showed how important is the plant-based diet to reverse climate change. The athletes now know that the plant based diet is also the perfect one to keep our body healthy and we showed them a piece of the Dominion movie because a plant based diet would stop animal suffering forever. We thank the Vegan Power Team for organizing this event."
Health Save Movement's Vegan Ramadan
Peace 🙏
Ramadan is a good time for moving towards a more conscious and positive lifestyle - to quit smoking cigarettes and other habits that affect us and our surroundings with negative effects, for example. There have been cases of
people who end up in the hospital because of the habits of eating  while breaking the fast (large meals containing high fat that comes from the animal or their bodily secretions)
Is there a healthier way to fast?

event page.

This is a small dairy farm where 7-8 animals are kept in a filthy confined space, in a small shade. Today's temperature is 43℃. When we visited there, the animals were thirsty and starving as there was no water and food. The dairy owner said that they sell the male calves and old buffaloes to butchers."

Tasmanian Animal Save held a vigil on May 6 at the Gretna Meatworks slaughter plant. They report: "We laid flowers on the fence, and implored those delivering animals to slaughter to instead choose peace and kindness. Most refused to look at us; one driver told us we were wasting our time. It is never a waste of time to stand in solidarity with the exploited and the vulnerable, nor to spread a message of peace right at the gates obscuring so much violence."

Dear friends,

Don’t turn away. Join us! Bear witness at our weekly vigils.

Join us in Toronto on Saturday. Maple Leaf "Foods" is profiting from speciesism — exploiting non-human animals for their flesh.  Michael McCain, the CEO of Maple Leaf, promised activists that he wants dialogue regarding a new slaughterhouse his company is building in London, Ontario. Despite their request that he attend an open house regarding the slaughterhouse project, he didn’t show. Activists still attended, however, setting up their own booth on speciesism and advocating for chickens amongst the Maple Leaf exhibitors.

Toronto Pig Save's weekly vigil at Fearmans slaughter plant is moving to Monday mornings. The first vigil on the new day will be on May 27.

KW Animal Save report from their May 6 vigil at Conestoga "Meat" Packers, a slaughter plant that claims to be better because it is owned by a farmers cooperative. "All of the pigs in these photographs were killed on May 6. By eating a plant-based diet and living a vegan life, we refuse to contribute to the violation of the rights of non-human animals. Please join us."

UNITED STATES
Welcome Sonoma County Animal Save. Find them on Facebook.

Oahu Animal Save held a vigil at Kunoa Cattle Co. on May 14. They report: "It’s always interesting to note the reactions of passersby. Some look sad. Some look nervous. Some look angry. Most are highly curious. And there’s often a remarkable dawning of realization. 'They are here for the animals.' That’s right. And we’re not leaving anytime soon."

Tampa Bay Animal Save bore witness at the Sierra Farm slaughter plant on May 10. "These beautiful innocent and sweet babies are living in absolute filth. Their living quarters reeked of feces and urine. They had sores on their bodies and complete despair in their eyes. Yet, some of them still wanted to come up to us and we were able to at least give them some form of comfort and compassion."

Houston Animal Save protested the cruelty and injustice of horse-drawn carriages. "Making horses pull oversized loads like carriages is cruel. Horses are forced to toil in all weather extremes, dodge traffic, and pound the pavement all day long. They may develop respiratory ailments because they breathe in exhaust fumes, and they can suffer debilitating leg problems from walking on hard surfaces."

Toronto Pig Save started in December 2010, with a promise to the pigs of doing a minimum of three vigils and vegan outreach events each week, all year round. We bear witness as a community of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animal victims in slaughterhouse trucks. The animals want us to be present and, with the most pleading eyes, ask for our help when we see them through the portholes of transport trucks. Just as if we were in those horrid trucks, we would want the whole community to be there fighting for our freedom, liberation, rights, and equality. In a way, we are there. All life is one and, “when (wo)men wish to harm others, they really do evil to themselves,” Leo Tolstoy said in his animal rights story “Esarhaddon, King of Assyria”. It’s our positive duty and obligation to act in the present to try to stop the most egregious injustices before us.

"When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, do not submit to the initial desire to flee from the suffering one, but on the contrary, come closer, as close as you can to her who suffers, and try to help her.” – Leo Tolstoy

In 8 years, The Save Movement has grown to over 660 Save groups in 70 countries around the world. Our dream is to have regular vigils at every slaughter plant worldwide. We regularly give seed money to new Save groups and require funds for literature, posters, subway ad campaigns (iVegan.ca) and vegan outreach events.

Make animal liberation your priority in life! Think of 10 kind things you can do each day and encourage your friends to do the same! Join us and participate in our weekly vigils, start a Save group in your community, and be a regular donor.
