Seems you are having fun evenings of dancing under the expert guidance of Judith, Sophie, and Lori too! I'm only missing one more Thursday. I'll be back next week for the dance demonstrations and regular dancing on June 6.

Regarding the dance demonstrations, look at the details below and let us know if those dates do or do not work for you. Sign-up at dancing on Thursday or email me. Thanks to all the dancers who have volunteered so far.

Extra events are optional and are listed here for your information. If a couple of hours of dancing once a week on Thursdays is as much as you want or can manage, that is fine!
  • Dance Demo at Guildford Seniors Village, 14568 104A Ave, on Wed, June 5, 2:30-3:30pm. Meet there at 1pm. Let me know if you are available to help.
  • Dance Demo at Fleetwood Villa, 16028 83rd Ave, on Friday, June 7, 2:30-3:30pm. Meet there at 1pm. Let me know if you are available to help.
  • Year-End Party, Thursday, June 13, 2019. Final dance session of the season and a party! Bring finger-food to share and wear an ethnic costume if you like.
  • SIFD Summer BBQ on Sunday, August 11, 3pm-10pm, at Don's farm, 25133 0 Ave, Aldergrove. Walk around the farm, dancing, then pot-luck dinner/BBQ, followed by more dancing! Save the date!
  • Season starts Thursday, September 12, 2019.
  • SIFD Folk Dance Retreat, Sept 20-22, 2019, at Camp Alexandra. Registration starts in June! See surreyfolkdance.org/retreat-2019 for all the details.

News from Bill Fex:
The contra dancers have their year end dance on June 15th at the Elgin Hall, 14250 Crescent Road, Surrey. Dancing from 8pm 'til 11pm. Cost is $15. Plus, it is a potluck dinner starting at 6:30pm. Bring your own utensils. Everyone is welcome.
BIFD year-end party, Tues, June 4, 6:30-10pm, Charles Rummel Community Centre, 3630 Lozells Ave, Burnaby. Pirates band will play a few dances. If you like, dress for a party or wear an ethnic costume, and bring a snack to share. Drop-in $5.

Brent Mawdsley will be teaching square dancing in a 10 session course over 5 weeks from May 28 to June 27, 2019, in Burnaby. 
 
Modern Square Dancing is a great way for families, couples, or singles to have fun, laugh, make friends, exercise, reduce stress, improve memory skills, and build a strong neighbourhood community, all while dancing to great family-friendly music.
 
No dance experience or special clothing is required.  Come as you are in comfortable clothes and shoes for dancing. 
 
Brent will provide all instruction and dancing entertainment every Tuesday and Thursday from May 28 to June 27, 2019.  Doors open at 6:45 pm with instruction and dancing from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. 
 
You can sign up at the door on May 28 or 30.  Your first night on either of these dates is FREE with no obligation.
 
If you would like to learn more and keep dancing, the cost is just $60 / person for the 10 sessions and a family rate is available on request.
 
The location on May 28 is the Burnaby Lake Rowing Pavilion, 6871 Roberts St, Burnaby.   Then all further dances (May 30 and June 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25 & 27) will be at the Wesburn Community Centre, 4781 Parkwood Ave, Burnaby.
