Eight Days - Five Ways - Don't Miss Out

Pitch In Even If It Is A Dollar - Your Dollar Can Change A Life

Last Eight Days of Ramadan. This is when we are more focused on asking for Allah's forgiveness and mercy. This is when our hearts are softened and are more tuned to give and share, to help and to uplift those who need help. This is when we are praying more and longer. This is when we are doing everything we can to write off all our sins and multiply our good deeds. This is also when we are more into buying gifts and preparing for Eid. This is when we are meeting more community members more often. At such a blessed and sensitive time, we offer you five different ways to increase the impact of your charity and your good deeds to multiple folds.

1. STOP SLAVERY 2019: Rescue & Restore Women on Street

2. PROTECT & EMPOWER YOUTH: Uplift An Entire Community

3. MY IFTAR KITCHEN: Provide Hot Meals Daily

4. FEED THE FAMILIES Through Your Zakat-al-Fitr at MY Family Pantry

5. MY EID TOYS DRIVE: Bring a smile on a kid's face this Eid.

May Allah SWT accept each and every single dollar, every single prayer, every hardship that we deal with and sacrifices that we made for His sake. May He immensely reward us and bless us with bounties. Ameen.

MY Project USA Addressing Human Trafficking, Drugs & Gangs in Ohio

Help Rescue & Restore Women From The Slavery of Pimps, Gangs & Drug Dealers In Columbus

This Ramadan, we are humbled to launch this very important campaign. We have now stepped into a new chapter of our organization. It's new as in operations, but it has been at the core of our vision and mission: Stop Slavery: Rescue & Restore the Victims through direct social services, advocacy and community organizing.

MY Project USA has been focused mostly on the prevention side of human trafficking. We did help sisters on street by providing them with food, clothing, referrals etc. but it was at a very low level until now, mostly because our hands were full with addressing violence and drugs in the Wedgewood community on the west side of Columbus.

Now we are super excited to announce that we are partnering with Alvis, Inc. to help address the sex trafficking, drugs epidemic and prostitution linked to drugs and other issues in the Hilltop area on the west side of Columbus.

We are creating a committee of Hilltop Leaders & Residents who will monitor this work and will serve as a board to make decisions that would help Restore & Rescue sisters on Sullivant Area and around in the Hilltop area.

Just like Wedgewood, this will be our pilot project. We intend to give it two years to see what would work and what won't. Once we know what is a good model, we will take it to other neighborhoods and cities too inshaAllah.

Please support our cause by your generous donations and make a lot of prayers for our success and safety and security of our staff and volunteers.

Toys Not Guns. Balls Not Drugs.

Make It A Happy & Safe Eid For Every Kid!
Partner With Us In Protecting & Empowering Our Youth

This is the time again, when you can help us bring a smile on children's faces. We have thousands of children within our refugee community on the west side. This Muslim refugee community is trapped in a neighborhood filled with drug dealers, pimps and other criminals. Most of these parents can't afford to get any toy for their children. Whereas criminals in the neighborhood are always ready to prey upon this kids when they are most vulnerable. A hot meal, a new toy or even a drink from these criminals could put them in risk being hooked drugs and falling into slavery for a very long time.

My Project USA launched the Balls Not Drugs initiative last year and it has been very successful. More kids are away from drugs then ever before in Wedgewood. We would like to continue this momentum and would like to donate more toys, especially balls this year.

We Fit Six Out of Eight Criteria.

MY Project USA is a nonprofit, 501 (C) 3 organization. We serve local refugees, orphans, slaves, victims of abuse, and other needy and poor neighbors in Columbus and Dayton, Ohio area. We are Zakat eligible since it falls into six of the eight categories of Zakat as commanded by Allah SWT in the following verse of Quran:

"Zakat expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler - an obligation [imposed] by Allah . And Allah is Knowing and Wise. (Quran 9:60)"

The first and second category of “for poor and for the needy” applies since we are helping poor local and refugee Muslim families.

The fourth category of "bringing hearts together" applies since we serve all needy people regardless of their faith, ethnicity or race. We also work with individuals that are attracted to Islam and Muslims and prefer working with us to learn more.
The fifth category “freeing captives” applies since we are addressing human trafficking, the modern day slavery, prevention and intervention. We are specially focusing on freeing sex-slaves from their masters and then helping them in reestablishing their lives.

The sixth category of "paying the debt" applies since we take care of families, single moms and family violence victims dealing with debts and financial instability.

The seventh category “the cause of Allah” applies because we are protecting and empowering Muslim youth and families in America. Through our work we are addressing drugs, gangs, violence, suicides, radicalization, homelessness, and hunger through capacity building of the individuals and the community. Through the documentation and publicity of our work we seek to address Islamophobia as well. Our goal is to preserve Islam and Muslim community in America at its best.
According to the majority scholars, Zakat can be given to those who volunteer to fight in the cause of Allah (SWT) and do not receive a fixed salary from the government. This also applies to the operational cost/salaries of a non-profit organization like ours that fits the other categories of zakat eligibility.
