FANZA Cabaret Night at Where The Pancakes Are


Join us for an evening of fantastic food and music at London’s favourite pancake house. Sample the 'best in town' pancakes, blinis and fritters of award-winning restaurant Where the Pancakes Are as you listen to songs from your favourite shows, brought to you by 'A voice to die for', New Zealander Jarrod Lee.

Direct from playing to sell-out houses in the Off West-End hit It Tastes Like Home, Jarrod will give us an evening of 'Hope and Dreams', channelling some of Broadway's best-loved numbers.

Tucked into Flatiron Square, the new foodie hotspot just a short walk from Borough Market, Where the Pancakes Are is one of London’s don’t-miss experiences and the snacks and bite-size versions of their signature dishes will offer plenty of options for those with vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free preferences.

Ticket price for the evening includes food and some wine - the cocktails are up to you!

Places are limited so book now - literally First Come, First Served.

An evening with Jane Harper and Stella Duffy - 11 July

 

FANZA is delighted to be hosting No 1 international bestselling Australian author Jane Harper's first ever London event


Join us at Waterstones Tottenham Court Road for this rare treat and celebrate opening night of The Lost Man UK tour with friends, fans, conversation on all things 'Antipodean Noir' - and signature cocktail, The Dry Martini.

Jane will be in conversation with fellow award-winning writer and FANZA patron, Stella Duffy, about her latest novel, The Lost Man, ('gripping, atmospheric and ultimately deeply satisfying' - Val McDermid) as well as the phenomenal success of her debut novel The Dry.

Author of international bestsellers The Dry, Force of Nature and The Lost Man, Jane's books are published in more than 35 territories worldwide and she's won numerous top awards including the Crime Writers Association Golden Dagger Award for Best Crime Novel, the British Book Awards Crime & Thriller Book of the Year and the Australian Book Industry Awards Book of the Year. The Dry is being made into a major motion picture starring Eric Bana as Aaron Falk; filming is underway in rural Victoria.

The Art of Healing - Exhibition at the Menzies Australia Institute

15 May until 28 June

The Art of Healing: Australian Indigenous Bush Medicine exhibition looks at traditional indigenous healing practice as past, present and future simultaneously. It will present examples of healing practice through contemporary art from the many distinct and varied indigenous communities throughout Australia, and follows the premise of Tjukurrpa (dreaming).

The exhibition is a partnership between Menzies Australia Institute at King's College London, the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, the Medical History Museum, University of Melbourne and the London exhibition is supported by the university’s Culture team.

Come the Tide book launch - with Sam Reese

Sunday 9 June, 3.30pm

Join us at New Zealand House on Sunday 9 June for the launch of Come the Tide, the debut short story collection from Aotearoa/New Zealand writer Sam Reese.

Sam’s collection, published by Platypus Press, has already been hailed as “a masterful collection” by Lochlan Bloom, while a recent review noted that the act of reading these “sun-soaked, water-drenched” stories “becomes an unusually visceral and enlarging experience”.

A reading from the book will be followed by an interview and Q&A, and a wine reception.

Caught in the Net Exhibition at JGM Gallery

13 June - 27 July

As the global war on waste collects momentum, the exhibition Caught In The Net at JGM Gallery London is timely and significant. It is designed to link environmental artists and conservation groups with a wider audience. Exploring and drawing attention to the growing crisis of plastic pollution in our oceans while acknowledging and promoting understanding of varying cultural aspects.
 
Featuring artwork developed as a collaboration of Erub Arts with Lynnette Griffiths and Marion Gaemers, Australian artists who are at the forefront of the global ghost net artistic movement.

NZUGA Supper with Holly Mathieson

Friday 14 June, 6.15pm

Stringing a violin with No. 8 wire

An evening of socialising and an informal buffet supper hosted by the New Zealand Universities Graduates' Association, followed by an address from award winning orchestral conductor Holly Mathieson. The event is open to all; members, non-members and non-graduates are all equally welcome.

Holly, originally from New Zealand, works with opera houses, ballet companies and orchestras spanning the UK, Europe and North America. She frequently records for BBC Radio, and her first major commercial recording with Decca will be released in July 2019.

Men at Work UK shows

20 & 21 June, London & Manchester

Multi-platinum selling band Men At Work kick off their European tour with 2 UK shows, their first since 1983.

Founder member and frontman Colin Hay will be joined by his band of Los-Angeles-based musicians to perform all the known, and even lesser known, Men At Work songs including ‘Down Under’, ‘Who Can It Be Now’, ‘Overkill’ and ‘It’s A Mistake’.

London Australian Film Festival

Returning to Regent Street Cinema for the third successive year, the London Australian Film Festival (formerly known as OZ Film Festival) presents a full weekend of the latest and greatest Australian films in the heart of London.

From thrilling dramas to laugh out loud comedies, enthralling documentaries to heart-warming family films and coming of age indies, there truly is something for everyone in this year’s festival. As well as a host of European, British and London premieres, this year’s festival offers a rare chance to revisit two classic Aussie films celebrating big anniversaries in 2019, as well as amazing student short films before each feature and a closing night Q&A gala.

Australian tenor Sam Harrison takes time out from his current role in Les Miserables to bring his own show to the Other Palace. Salmona Dub at the O2 Forum

Friday 19 July

New Zealand’s Salmonella Dub return to the UK on Friday 19 July 2019 – 7.00pm as Salmonella Dub Soundsystem, featuring The Mighty Asterix on vox, live percussion and the epic Salmonella Dub horn section with Andrew Penman aka DJ Rudeboy on the mix.

Prepare for an extensive sonic mash up of their full back-catalogue.
