Dear <<First Name>>,

This last Thursday we had our final all school Chapel. Our High School Principal asked the student body three questions. She asked that everyone would look back upon the school year and ask themselves, what now do we know, what now can we do, and what now do we value more?  These three questions have stuck with us ever since. I realized that we have been so focused on what each day brings that we have had little time to think about what we are learning in the process.
Because of this, we wanted to process with you! Here are the things we have come up with to answer these three questions.

What do we know after this year?

  • Maria: Doubts are the opportunities where we must press in, go deeper, and ultimately expect nothing less than to experience God's sovereignty in fresh ways.
  • Caleb: the importance of being quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger as we lead and disciple others.
  • Faithfulness takes us a long ways. Tomorrow will always feel scarier than today, so don’t worry about tomorrow and live faithfully one day at a time.
  • The fastest way to travel to the east side of South Germany is through two other countries! (Switzerland to Austria to Munich)

What can you do that you couldn’t before?

  • Maria: I can lesson plan more than one day ahead! I can trust God to give me words to say in the moments I don’t know what I am going to say more often now.
  • Caleb: I now can lead students in Christ-centered discussions without fear of their perception of me. It has been a fantastic year of learning to lead!
  • We learned to drive on the left side of the road in England and a narrow boat through canal locks!
  • We continue to learn how to ask for help when in need. And how important it is to set aside your own agenda to be able to walk with students as they doubt and question God and the realities of life.

What do you value now that you didn’t before?

  • Consistency with people and time.
  • Cleaning and routine.
  • Tea!
  • Verses put up in our home.
  • The process it takes to build relationships.
  • Sleep and taking care of our bodies.
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Phil 4:9

We are so thankful that God continues to teach us new things. We are so excited to put into practice what He is teaching us. Honestly, I am so glad that we will never stop learning until the end of our lives. I am reminded of King Solomon and his desire to learn more even though he was the wisest man to ever live!

We pray that you would also grow more in this next season. That you would be able to ask yourself these three questions, process what you are learning, and become aware of what God is teaching you!

Below is our Track & Field team this year. We loved this season!!
We finished the Track season with second place in the guys DII Championships! We are so proud of the work and perseverance these men showed throughout the season.
We have found that one of our favorite places to relax is on our porch reading or creating art! (Of course, we had to include a fresh pot of English tea!)
Every year after the Championship meet, we take the athletes to one of the few Mexican restaurants in Germany. It is always such a treat and fun way to celebrate.
Day off trip to the Alps! So fun riding in our friends convertible with the towering Alps surrounding us.
THIS CULTURAL MOMENT:

Each Spring here in the Southern part of Germany, we anticipate the appearance of a Maibaum (Maypole in German) in every small village in our area. It is a fascinating time for us because each little town will have their maypole decorated in a different way. Some are wrapped in ribbons, others have wreaths surrounding the top, and still others will be carved or painted in various ways.

Typically these poles symbolize the coming of spring and are used to celebrate fertility in crops and animals.

It is a fun time to drive around through each town to see how their Maibaum is decorated!

Maria's senior small group girls went around Kandern for a photoshoot! This was one of the best last times they had altogether before Graduation (June 15th)
Caleb's sophomore small group guys had a fun time collecting free items from the German community. Here they are with their best finds of the night!
JUNE

This month started with our end of the season Track party and more recently, Maria's much anticipated AP Studio Art show. We had one athlete who broke two school records (1600, 3200m) and lots of fun celebrating the season. Maria had all seven of her students successfully present their AP Portfolio concentrations to a large audience. It will be bittersweet to see many of these students graduate this weekend!
Praises
It's overwhelming to think about how much God has done in a year...praise Him for breakthroughs in our small groups, for healing in the dorms, for light that shone onto dark places in student's hearts, for staff who have served the kingdom and these kids unto the Lord, for wisdom in navigating hard and dark seasons, for YOUR prayers and support, for the Word and it's unbreakable truth....

'For endless days we will sing your praise, Oh Lord, Oh Lord our God'
Prayers
These past two months have exposed a lot of brokenness in our community. Pray that the students who are struggling with self-harm, depression, or loneliness would feel Christ's arms wrap around them and that they would experience His love.

One of Caleb's small group guys and his sister, will be unexpectedly moving to Rome. This has been so hard on Caleb as he has been mentoring Gio and coaching Eliana for the past two years. Please pray that they would find Christ-followers who can speak into their lives in Rome and that they would feel settled quickly.

Maria will be saying goodbye to her beloved AP Artists and her dear senior small group. Pray that she would have good closure with her seniors. Pray that these last few days of the school year would be full of love and sweet goodbyes for everyone.

Graduation is in just two short days. We are again feeling bittersweet about many of the goodbyes we have to say. Though we know that God goes before each of those that are leaving. We pray also that God would continue to go before you and be ever so present. That you would find His mercy and strength to be bold in this next month.

We are SO thankful for you and your support of us!
