Upcoming Conference: Strengthening Forensic Science in the Courtroom
It’s not too late to join us June 7-8 for this comprehensive two-day conference on the latest issues in Forensic Science. The event is co-hosted by BCIT Forensics and UBC Innocence Project.
Extending our reach online
The Graduate Certificate in Forensic Investigation of Fraud and Financial Crime will be available in an online format beginning this fall, helping serve the Canada-wide need and interest in this program.
The Forensic Health Sciences program also uses video conferencing to extend its curricular reach beyond Metro Vancouver. FSCT 7810 - Intro to Forensic Health Sciences can be completed fully online, while Forensic Nurse Examiner training can be completed by a combination of online and web conferencing, with only one day's attendance for practical skills. In addition, the Graduate Certificate also now transfers credits to the online Master of Science in Forensic Nursing program at Aspen University.
Forensics welcomes new Associate Dean
Jennifer Talman is the new BCIT Associate Dean of Chemistry, Forensics and Physics. Jennifer has been an instructor in the physics department at BCIT for 15 years. She has a Master of Science in Medical Biophysics, and has taught students in a wide range of programs, including Medical Radiography, Biomedical Engineering, Nuclear Medicine, and Diagnostic Sonography.
Forensics alum internationally recognized
We recently caught up with BCIT Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Forensic Investigation, Crime and Intelligence Option (CIA) grad Jason Bakas to learn more about his pathway to becoming an award-winning intelligence analyst.
