Welcoming the stranger: Working with Global Communities, Locally.
Glocal Community Partners Helper Needs
Greetings,
It's been awhile since we have sent just a Helper's Needed Newsletter. But, there have been some specific needs put out to us and so I thought this would be much easier! Some of the needs are things for Glocal, but many are for other things that are going on in Boise involving the Refugee Community! If you are not in Boise and can't help out, please pray for these events as well as the items listed below.

Women's English at the Park:
During the summer months we gather with as many women and children as we can at various parks every other week. We will need help with driving the women and children to the park as well as would love to have anyone interested to come and hang out with us. Let us know if you are interested and can help!

Friendship Partner:
A Single Man needs a friend: He lives in the bench area and is just looking for someone to encourage him and help him in his adjustment to life here in Boise. I believe he is from Iraq.

Tutoring:
A young man of around 19 years needs to pass the math entrance exam to enter CWI. He is looking for help in preparing for this. His name is Abdullah and lives off Owyhee. His family has been friends of Laura and Nick's since their arrival.

RISE Program:
This is a program through IRC that helps teens who are refugees learn to swim. Click on the button below that says RISE to get more information about this program and the needs that IRC has with that program.

Made for this Camps
Two churches in Boise (True Hope and Redemption Hill) are putting on evening camps for kids ages 5 to 11. One will be at Morley Nelson (West Boise), June 4-6, the other will be at Willow Lane Park (North Boise), June 11-13. Both are in need of Volunteers or you would be welcome to also bring children you know to the camps. For more information, click on the button below that says Camps. At the top of the web page, you can click on the North Boise Camp or West Boise Camp, depending on which one you are interested in.

World Refugee Day:
IOR is looking for volunteers to help with World Refugee Day. It is on June 15th, 9:30-1:00 pm at the Grove. If you are interested in volunteering please email Kara Fink at kfink@idahorefugees.org . Glocal will have a table set up there so come and say hello to us! We would love to see you!

Friendship Partner Teams Needed:
We are always looking to connect people in friendship to newcomers to Boise. If you are interested or you know someone who might be interested, please contact us!

Shed Items Needed:
We have slowly gone through our stock of items in the shed we run with the ICB. We are in need of cleaning supplies: laundry detergent, dish soap, general household cleaners, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags and sponges. We also need gently used or new pots/pans, flatware, storage containers and dish sets. Please contact Laura if you have anything to donate: lauraa@glocalboise.org.

Prayer

Needs
1. Friendship Partner Teams - We have one new team that we connected this month. Pray for them as they build a friendship with a sweet family of 8 from the DRC.
2. Eid  - June 4 will end the fasting month of Ramadan for our Muslim friends. Pray for opportunities to encourage and love our Muslim friends here in Boise.
3. Garden - Continue to pray for good relationships in the Garden this summer and for Carolyn Langley as she guides and directs the Glocal Garden.
4.  Baby Showers - We are so thankful for Michelle Larson and the many of you who have been helping with Baby Showers this spring. There are many scheduled for the summer months. Pray for sweet times at the Baby Showers and for care and safe deliveries for all the babies and Moms!
5. Two Rohingya Families Leaving Boise -Please pray for the Shukur Family (Sheboygan, WI) and the Mohammad Ali family (Chicago, IL) as they move this week from Boise. These are two Rohingya families who are very dear to us and we are so sad to see them leave. If you know of people in those cities that might be willing to connect with them, please let us know. We would be grateful to see them loved on in their new homes!!
