Keck Center of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
500 5th St., NW, Room 100
Washington, DC

Please join the Committee on National Statistics for a seminar on June 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Keck Center of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The seminar will revisit the publication, Principles and Practices for Federal Evaluation which summarizes a 2016 workshop that identified principles that some federal agencies had developed for their program evaluations and covered many topics, including bolstering evaluation policies, incorporating the policies in to the organizations' framework, and the potential benefits of institutionalizing federal evaluation principles across agencies.

The seminar will also engage participants on how information from the workshop can be applied to the new Foundations for Evidence-Based Policy Act ("Evidence Act") requirement to develop best practices and standards for program evaluation. The seminar will include discussion of how the new Evidence Act requirement ties to the discussions from the workshop, provide opportunities to address gaps from the workshop, and will also elicit the participants' general views about potential best practices and standards. These discussions may assist agencies in developing or refining their policies and provide informative input for the Office of Management and Budget in developing its guidance.
