Au programme de la soirée : le vernissage des expositions de Barbara Steinman dans la Grande salle et de Pascale Théorêt-Groulx dans la Petite galerie, une performance de Théorêt-Groulx, l’inauguration de la Place Publique 2019, des ateliers portes ouvertes, une carte blanche à Information Office sur la Plate-forme de lecture, et bien plus encore.

The Darling Foundry invites you to the launch of its summer program. On the schedule: the opening of exhibitions by Barbara Steinman in the Main Hall and Pascale Théorêt-Groulx in the Small Gallery, a performance by Théorêt-Groulx, the inauguration of the 2019 Place Publique, open studios, a carte blanche invitation to Information Office on the Reading Platform, and much more.

Les résidents internationaux Snyder Moreno Martín (Colombie) et Luiza Proença (Brésil) convient le public à des discussions ouvertes autour de leurs réflexions et recherches sur les processus de réparation et d’intégration dans la production culturelle. Les conversations sont suivies du lancement de la monographie de Guillaume Adjutor Provost, publiée par la Fonderie Darling.

International residents Snyder Moreno Martín (Colombia) and Luiza Proença (Brazil) invite the public to open conversations around their reflections and research on processes of healing and integration in cultural production. This is followed by the launch of Guillaume Adjutor Provost’s monograph, published by the Darling Foundry.

Par une série d’interventions lumineuses tout autour du périmètre de la Grande salle, Barbara Steinman transforme l’ancienne fonderie en refuge et en maison temporaire, pour abriter les rêves d’enfance, les êtres et les espèces en danger, les promesses d’appartenance et le souci de l’autre.

Through a series of light interventions around the perimeter of the Main Hall, Barbara Steinman transforms the former foundry into a shelter and temporary home housing childhood dreams, endangered beings and species, promises of belonging, and care for the other.

Explorant la dichotomie entre la science et l’humain, Pascale Théorêt-Groulx décline les lois de la physique qui règlent le fonctionnement du corps – la gravité et l’air encapsulé – par le biais d’installations, de sculptures et de vidéos à la fois légères et réflexives.

Pascale Théorêt-Groulx explores the dichotomy between science and the human being.
Through installations, sculptures, and videos—works that seem light yet are also introspective—the artist invokes the physical laws inherent to the body’s functioning, i.e. gravity and encapsulated air.

Plus que jamais, cette Place Publique a été pensée dans un esprit d’ouverture et de collaboration, où la participation du public s'insère comme le fil conducteur des événements du jeudi. Au risque d’entraîner l’éveil, une série de performances proposées par Milly-Alexandra Dery, est présentée en parallèle à des soirées carte blanche où divers organismes sont invités à investir la rue Ottawa.

More than ever, the Place Publique program was conceived in a spirit of openness and collaboration in which participation from the public is the common thread of the Thursday events. Au risque d’entraîner l’éveil, a series of performances proposed by Milly-Alexandra Dery, is presented in parallel to carte blanche evenings where various organizations are invited to take over Ottawa Street.

Il est temps d’unifier nos forces pour ce qui représente, non seulement un des événements les plus importants de l’année, mais bien un tournant décisif dans l’histoire de la Fonderie Darling. Après plusieurs années à collaborer avec la Ville de Montréal en tant que locataire, l’organisme Quartier Éphémère souhaite devenir propriétaire du bâtiment principal qu’il occupe. Contribuez à ce projet et aidez-nous à pérenniser la place des arts visuels dans un quartier en transformation rapide !

It is time to unite our forces for what is not only one of the most important events of the year, but a turning point in the history of the Darling Foundry. After several years of working with the City of Montreal as a tenant, the organization Quartier Éphémère wishes to acquire the main building it occupies. Contribute to this project and help us anchor the visual arts in a rapidly changing neighbourhood!
