Editorial
Dear Friends,
We begin this edition of our newsletter with an interview with Harry Sokol and Mathias L. Richard during which they clarify the relevance of the gut microbiota’s fungal component and how studying it might affect clinical practice in the foreseeable future.
Next up is the first study that supports an association between copy-number variation of specific human genes involved in starch degradation and the oral and gut microbiomes’ diversity and function.
You will also come across a new article regarding a recent study, led by Dr. Purna C. Kashyap, which reveals how the small intestinal microbiome is altered in patients with gastrointestinal symptoms and how that can be triggered through diet in a microbiota-dependent manner. Finally, we have a new study that shows how the effects of antidepressants may be partly mediated by changes in gut microbiota composition and diversity in mice.
Happy reading!
