Free Qigong in the Park!

Many of you have practiced qigong with me in classes and workshops. Experiencing qigong outside on the earth takes this practice to the next level. There's a reason why we feel so happy being outside, feeling the sun on our face and the grass beneath our feet. We're able to gather & connect to nature's energy that surrounds us.

Qigong has many translations - energy work, energy practice, energy cultivation. This practice is a big key to our health & longevity. Qigong is a moving meditation, helping us to flow like nature, which is why it looks and feels so beautiful. When we align ourselves to our original nature, we overcome resistance, blockages, tension, stress, and more. Moving with our breath in these slow, meditative movements is so important for calming our nervous system and keeping our body supple. This is real life medicine - let's take the power of our health back into our own hands.

Come join me at Loose Park on Sun, June 2nd at 10am. We'll meet just west of the pond and flow through a 60 minute practice. All levels welcome!

Qi is the vital life force that flows within our energy pathways, known as meridians. This energy is a free resource that we have the ability to tap into any time we need it. This 6-week course will blend Qigong & Restorative Yoga to cultivate our Qi within. Some of the benefits of Qi cultivation include stress & tension relief, improved sleep quality, better digestion, and boosting the body's natural ability to heal itself.

Our focus in this series will be on the 10 Healing Phases of Qi, inspired by Dr. Roger Jahnke's book, The Healing Promise of Qi. Each week will layer upon itself, helping students learn how to stay balanced in any of life's situations. Movement and postures will help support and sustain healthy energy flow within. This meditative, healing practice will bring harmony to any level of practitioner. No experience necessary.

Spring Time in the Kitchen

While we're still in the season of the wood element, incorporate these ingredients into your cooking to help support the liver and gallbladder:
  • Cilantro, Onion, Basil, Cardamom, Cumin, Fennel, Marjoram, Parsley, Green Onion
  • Milk Thistle, Dandelion, Licorice, Olive Leaf, Chamomile, Oregon Grape Root (I like many of these in tea form)
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Spirulina
  • Coconut oil is easily digestible and does not require the liver or gallbladder to digest or emulsify it.
  • Garlic, ginger and lemon have a warming essence, which benefits the liver.
Also, since the taste/flavor of the wood element is sour, incorporating any sour foods into your cooking will also help support the organs of spring time.
