The small community of El Barro is home to 340 people. The community is located near the Rio Coco, and during the rainy season the river level rises and contaminates the water source for the area. In 2017, the community water board came to EOS requesting support to improve their drinking water and we installed a water chlorinator to treat the water. Since installation, we continue to test the water source throughout the year and have found there to be no bacteria, effectively providing safe drinking water to the entire community.
