Message from the Executive Director

We are happily welcoming the warm weather and seeing the cold days in the rear view mirror.

There is lots of activity at the BPAA office as we prepare for the conference, AGM, awards gala, summer book mail out to MLAs, our annual archive program, and preparations for Alberta Book Day, to name a few.

It’s a pleasure to have our summer student, Danielle Malbeuf, on board to help with all of these projects. Danielle is working towards her Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy at the University of Alberta, and will be with us until the end of August. You can expect to hear from her with regards to many of the projects we are completing over the summer.

I attended the Speech from the Throne on May 22. We are looking forward to meeting with several Ministers and staff to continue our advocacy work for the book publishing industry in Alberta. The establishment of an Alberta Book Publishers Fund remains a priority to ensure the capacity of the industry can grow and thrive.

The ACP AGM is being held in Toronto from June 18 to 20. Patricia and I will both be attending, and hope to see many of you there.

With best regards,

Kieran Leblanc
