CIRCLE OF MERCY

The Circle of Mercy Banquet was held last Sunday at Lawrence Park Golf Club.  The following awards were bestowed.

CIRCLE OF MERCY AWARD
The Circle of Mercy Award was instituted in May of 1997 by then-principal of Mercyhurst Preparatory School, Mr. Ed Zenewicz.  He felt it important to recognize those persons in our midst who model the charism of Mercy while trying their hands at a variety of activities and using their skills and talents to benefit others.  Since that time students, adults, and alumni of the MPS community have been named to the Circle of Mercy by the MPS faculty and administration.

Fr. Steve Schreiber, Rachel Praetzel, and Brooke Talbot are the recipients of the 2019 Circle of Mercy Award.

LEAVING YOUR STUDENT'S MARK ON MPS

Congratulations to the families of the MPS Class of 2019. Plenty of people will congratulate your student, but we know that you work long and hard to help your child accomplish their goals.

If you are looking for a great way to leave their legacy and yours at Mercyhurst Prep, please consider these creative ways to make your mark. All funds raised through these gifts benefit MPS scholarships and other vital student programs and services.  For more information please contact Lisa Nietupski at lznietupski@mpslakers.com or call 814.824.2408.

Create a Memory Square to become a permanent part of our gym foyer.  These tiles are a lasting memento of their MPS years.  It’s a great way to remember their sports and academic accomplishments.

If the Performing Arts Center has been their classroom, or their showplace, consider a seat plate honoring their time or your time at MPS.

Science teacher Theresa Wyman took her Bio 2 class to the Holden Arboretum in Kirtland, Ohio, to celebrate the culmination of two years of rigorous work in their International Baccalaureate class.  They hiked through various gardens and woodlands enjoying the gorgeous spring flowers and foliage.  The group traversed the Murch Canopy Walk and climbed above the treetops to a height of 120 feet via the Kalberer Emergent Tower. Wyman said, “It was a really beautiful day together with an amazing group of kids.”

On Tuesday, May 21, the sophomore class hosted a kickball tournament fundraiser. The MPS student body enthusiastically responded, putting together eight teams along with several individual student sign-ups. The teams played two games each with the top four teams moving to a knockout round. Fire Ball, a team featuring MPS boys soccer players, won the championship game 4-1. Overall, everyone had a great time playing and competing, and the sophomore class raised over $400. Thanks to everyone who signed up and volunteered!
