The Queensland Choir

(QYMA - Section 29 - Secondary Choir Year 7 - 9)

The Queensland Choir, one of Australia's largest premier choirs, has led the development of choral performance in Queensland for more than a century. The choir is made up of around 100 volunteer choristers from a wide range of backgrounds and ages who are auditioned annually and perform as a symphonic choir, the core of the Brisbane Sings Messiah Chorus and, at times, as a large chamber choir.

News from The Queensland Choir

As part of The Queensland Choir's growth, the organisation has relocated to new facilities in the Twelfth Night Theatre Complex in Bowen Hills as part of the development of an Arts Hub. Here, the choir will operate as a resident member of the theatre complex, as the venue continues to provide support to non-profit arts groups in Brisbane.
The Queensland Choir will be performing in the Twelfth Night Theatre with the first concert being a Tribute to Marjorie Johnstone who operated the Johnstone Gallery, originally situated adjacent to the current theatre. Their donation of the land provided the opportunity for the construction of the theatre. Concerts are Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September and tickets are available via 07 3252 5122.
