Family Businesses are the best home for our latest round of young adults leaving education

This week I was lucky enough to attend a seminar with an organisation that is working hard to connect business with schools to bridge the divide between the two sectors. It seems there is still a long way to go, as we try and educate youngsters as to what the possibilities are for them in terms of employment and entrepreneurship.

However, most of the surveys and research I have seen in the last twelve months show conclusively that family businesses are best placed to help in this area. Youngsters are attracted to the family values associated with our businesses, the moral standpoint many of us take with ethical sourcing and world challenges such as global warming etc.

Yet the message is still not getting through to the next generation about what's available to them whilst still in education. I encourage you to get more involved at a local level, to help them understand what we offer and
how it will benefit them in their career. It will be good for them and good for you!
