Stories from the extraordinary world of pottery in Oaxaca
A conversation

Featuring:
Diego Mier y Terán & Kythzia Barrera, directors of Innovando la Tradición,
in conversation with:
Alejandro González Iñárritu, filmaker,
& Elia Mateo Martínez, master potter from San Marcos Tlapazola.

Dear friend,

We are thrilled to be launching the Huajes Valley Network in Los Angeles, a place with a strong and enduring connection to Oaxaca.

We believe this connection can nourish and strengthen the future of the artisans that Innovando la Tradición has been working with for the last 14 years.

The Huajes Valley Network is a growing and powerful network on a quest to revitalize centuries-old pottery traditions – kept alive through centuries by indigenous craftswomen – by way of the novel and community-led initiatives of Innovando la Tradición.

Join us in this quest!

Join this expanding community of artists, chefs, philanthropists, cultural promoters, entrepeneurs, and friends of Innovando, with bases in Mexico and the USA.

Filmaker Alejandro González Iñarritu will join master potters Macrina and Elia Mateo Martínez, in an unprecedented conversation about the power of clay to transform the world.

We'll talk about what's on the horizon and how you too can build bridges for Oaxacan craftswomen.

Thank you for taking the first step of this wonderful journey with us!
We look forward to meeting you!

Innovando la Tradición
Clay lives. We bring about care for our human, social and natural environment. We serve artisan communities by developing the conditions for their well-being, agency and autonomy. We transform the dominant narratives. We create bridges between handmade knowledge and the world at large, to revitilize the tradition. We are and operate as a community. We learn and are transformed together. We hold spaces for individual and collective creativity. We are proud of what we do. We are all clay.
