Spring Season action and adventure!

This week, the newsletter is full to bursting, with blog updates from two of our favourite Big Kids Club classes, special welcomes to two new teachers, an invitation to our Storybook birthday, and a shocking arraignment in our avian arrangement. (!!!)
Ayumi and the Jobs and Occupations class have been dentists, nail technicians, and sea plane pilots, to name a few of the career options they've tested out. Her wrap-up blog post celebrates the kids' stick-to-it-ness and gives you the photos to prove that our preschoolers have the world at their feet. See what they've been up to, and how far they'll go!
Meanwhile, the Civilizations class has been running the races, taking first place, and tasting the foods of the gods, as Greek culture, traditions, art and history come into play.
Speaking of plays... Plato and Aristotle were some of the first playwrites in (Western) history, but if you think philosophy (or anything) is over the heads of preschoolers, see how Aida breaks it down, on the blog.

Welcome to Roxana Ramirez Lazo
|
|
This week, we're pleased to wish a warm welcome to the lovely Roxana Ramirez-Lazo, and a huge thank you to Elly M., the Buddings member who sent her our job ad! Roxana has worked with the Strathcona Elementary School after-school program since 2016, and is currently pursuing a degree in Psychology at Capilano U. We're so glad to have been introduced!
She brings a warm presence to the space, a willing pair of helping hands, and a calm demeanour, even in the busiest of times. We're especially glad to have her can-do-it attitude, and are looking forward to learning more about her, and all her talents in the coming months.
We do still have a position available, and if you know any bright and sunny child-minded friends, we'd be grateful to meet them.
The job description is at buddings.ca/jobs ... so it's easy to remember! :)

Bird Show Scandal: Partnership dissolves!
|
|
The Spring Season of Special Guests, flying lessons, and learning about birds has ended in a shocking discovery for the cast and producers of Storybook's Friday afternoon program, The Bird Show.
One day before the show's penultimate episode, friends of the show's hosts were horrified to learn their violent secret:

Behind cage doors, Peaches the Canary has been threatening and even attacking Grinch the Finch. There had been some signs, but this morning Peaches was caught in the act: batting Grinch with his wings, hissing at him, and the final evidence, a bathtub of green feathers!!
Staff are stunned, but all agree the birds should be separated, since the most common reason, according to the internet, is "simple aggression."
If you have an unoccupied or unneeded bird cage that we could borrow or have, please send it our way! We can return it (if necessary) once we get a more permanent solution figured out. Please email storybook@buddings.ca to help.
