It's the most wonderful time of the year...

No, we aren't already playing Christmas classics at the farm, but we are celebrating the start of our 107th peach season! Yesterday (May 22nd) we started harvesting peaches and Drew snapped a photo of the first basket harvested of our Flavorich variety. This summer we are set to pick one of the best crops of peaches in the past decade, and look forward to seeing you at the farm!

Let peach season begin!

Yesterday, we hosted a Q&A series on our Instagram, and had several inquiries about peaches. See that Q&A below!
- When can we start getting peaches at popup markets or at Jaemor at Banks Crossing?
Our first few pickings (first week) can be extremely light compared to the rest of our peach season which should run through mid to late September. By June 1st we should be sending out homegrown peaches to our market in Commerce at Banks Crossing, in addition to our popup farm markets in Gainesville, Oakwood, Braselton, Winder, Athens and Cumming. We also visit the farmers market in Suwanee every Saturday. For more details on when we are in one of the locations listed above, please visit this schedule. We do have in some additional peaches right now from a friend's family farm in middle Georgia that we have at our market in Commerce!
- When do freestone varieties come in?
Typically not until after the Fourth of July!
- Any idea what will be available the last two weeks of June?
An entire list of our homegrown peach varieties listed on this page of our website. The chart will also share with you which peaches are white vs. yellow flesh, and which ones we recommend for baking, canning, etc.
- Do you ever sell seconds of your peaches?
We do! Ask one of our employees if there are any peaches on the seconds shelf the next time you are at one of our market locations. Note: We do not send seconds to sell at popup markets.
- Can you explain the different varieties of peaches?
Different peach varieties range in sizes, colors of skin and flesh. Flesh may be white or yellow. Typically our white flesh peaches such as Spring Snow, Nectar, Sugar Giant, Georgia Belle, White Rose and September Snow, are sweeter than our yellow flesh peaches. Below you'll see a series of photos that showcase just how different our peaches can look!

- Do you have a good peach cobbler recipe?
We sure do. In fact we have a few recipes posted on our website including: Jaemor Peach Cobbler, Nanny's Peach Pudding, and Georgia Peach Tea.
- Is there an opportunity for u-pick?
Yes! We host one u-pick peach day each summer. That date is scheduled for the first Saturday in August, which is August 3rd of this year (2019).
- Will you ship peaches this summer?
Yes! We will begin shipping peaches the week after July 4th and should have more details on that by mid June. Want to be contacted when we start shipping? Please let us know.
- Are your peaches considered organic, meaning no use of pesticides?
We are not a certified organic operation, however, we do follow many of the same growing practices deemed safe for Certified Organic farming by the United States Department of Agriculture. For more information on our growing practices, please visit this page on our website. However, it is important to note that "organic" doesn't mean pesticide free. Farms that participate in the Certified Organic program can use non-synthetic (natural) products on crops when needed.
If you have any additional questions about our peaches, or Georgia grown peaches in general, please let us know.

We will be open our regular market hours Memorial Day weekend and on Memorial Day (Monday) at our Alto, Commerce locations in addition to our popup market in Gainesville!

Taste the difference family makes!

Stay peachy,
Caroline
