Something to Think About....
It's Memorial Day. With all the cookouts and great weather, we might forget why we don't have school or work on a Monday. It's to remember and honor those who've given their lives while serving in the U.S. armed forces.
[Jesus said,] “This is my commandment: love each other just as I have loved you. No one has greater love than to give up one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you." --- John 15:12-14 (CEB)
I can't help but think about this passage on Memorial Day. They gave their lives for others, including me, even though they didn't have ME in mind. It's amazing to me. I also can't help but think about Jesus giving his life - for you and me and everyone else on the planet since the beginning of time - except I do think he had ME and YOU and everyone else in mind. It's amazing to me. Especially because I spend most of my time living for myself.
Take a minute to talk with God. What do you think about giving your life for someone or someones? What would it mean for you to LIVE your life for another person? If someone lived their life for you, how would you respond? What if someone gave their life for you?
