Meet Dr. Courthney Russell, Jr. He is the keynote speaker for Nonprofit Camp in September. He uses entrepreneurial empowerment and community engagement to uplift communities, fundraise, and create programs that solve problems. He grows out of the health care industry as a patient care advocate. But his special sauce is motivational speaking and fundraising for philanthropic ventures.

We are very excited to welcome him to Estes!  Please save the date for camp on your calendar: September 30.

Rob and Julie Pieper started Giving Back Thursdays as a way to support five nonprofits that have had a positive effect on their business and their staff. They designated the first Thursday of winter/spring months as Giving Back Thursday, offering to donate 25% of sales on those days. This year, those Giving Back Thursdays raised over $4000 total. Rob noted that Giving Thursdays brought in "a room full and a focused cause. It is community filled and fulfilling. It creates an intention to buy."  This program is a win/win: the Pieper's sales increased over and above the 25% raised for nonprofits. Rob and Julie are looking to share this program with other Giving Businesses. Together we are bigger and better! Businesses interested in participating in Giving Thursdays in January - May 2020 should email Karen.
Did you see BIKE PARADE and PARTY?! EPNRC is co-hosting this event with the Bike Coalition. Needless to say, Laurie is hot glueing up some amazing awards for best costume (individual and group).
Congratulations to the Estes Park Running Club on a producing another well attended and heart pumping Estes Park Marathon. This event relies on volunteers and community members to be out shaking bells, manning aid stations, and passing off water. The Running Club pays area youth to help support the event, Flinch Forward volunteers were there doing a day of service. Next year, we need more people cheering these runners on as they race through our valley on foot!  There were over a hundred marathon runners alone, scores of half marathon, 10k and 5k runners to total over 1000 runners!
Hey! Last month we offered starts from our office plants to readers who got to the nonprofit newsletter finish line.  Well, shiver me timbers...Here is one of our board members, Kirby Hazelton, with a new plant. We also went to Crisis Advocates and Crossroads. Thanks Cato and Brian for writing in. We are all part of the Forest of Philanthropy! We will have more starts ready next month....
