Best to arrive early to be seated by 7:30 so we can begin on time. The venue will easily hold about 35; after that, standing or floor-sitting room only. The early bird gets the seat. Please occupy the close seats first. Be an up-front person.

Mary Moore Easter, Patrick Cabello-Hansen, Matt Mauch, Ethna McKiernan

Mary Moore Easter’s first poetry collection, The Body of the World (Mad Hat Press 2018), placed as finalist for the both 2019 MN Book Award and the 2017 Prairie Schooner Book Prize; she is also author of the chapbook, Walking From Origins (Heywood Press). A sampling of her publications includes Poetry, Waterstone, NY Times, The Portable Boog Reader and Prairie Schooner. She is a Pushcart Prize-nominated poet; Cave Canem Fellow; veteran dancer /choreographer and emerita professor of dance at Carleton College. Easter has received Bush and McKnight fellowships, a Loft Creative Non-Fiction Award, and is a featured poet in the May, 2019 Unamuno Author Series Festival in Madrid, Spain.

Patrick Cabello Hansel is the author of the poetry collection The Devouring Land (Main Street Rag Publishing). He has published poems and prose in over 55 journals, including Hawai’i Pacific Review, Ilanot Review, Lunch Ticket, and Ash and Bones.  He has received awards from the Loft Literary Center and Minnesota State Arts Board, and his poem “Quitting Time” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.  He is the editor of The Phoenix of Phillips, a literary journal for and by the people of the most diverse neighborhood in Minneapolis. A pastor of a bilingual church in south Minneapolis, Patrick blogs about his passion for beauty and justice at www.spiritwound.blogspot.com.

Matt Mauch is the author of Bird~Brain, If You’re Lucky Is a Theory of Mine, Prayer Book, and the chapbook The Brilliance of the Sparrow. Founder of the Great Twin Cities Poetry Read, his poems have appeared in numerous journals, including Conduit, The Journal, DIAGRAM, Willow Springs, The Los Angeles Review, Forklift, Ohio, Sonora Review, Water~Stone Review, and on the Poetry Daily and Verse Daily websites. Mauch leads the staff at Poetry City, a journal of poetry and prose on poetry. A Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant recipient and National Poetry Series finalist, Mauch lives in Minneapolis and teaches in the AFA in Creative Writing program at Normandale Community College.

Ethna McKiernan has been twice awarded a Minnesota State Arts Board grant in poetry. Her first book, Caravan, was nominated for the Minnesota Book Award and her work has been widely anthologized, including in The Notre Dame Book of Irish American Poetry, 33 Minnesota Poets, and more. McKiernan holds an MFA from Warren Wilson Program for Writers. Her fourth book, Swimming With Shadows, was just published by Salmon Poetry (Ireland).  McKiernan works in Street Outreach for a non-profit serving the Minneapolis homeless population. In an earlier life, she was CEO of Irish Books and Media, Inc.

Before and afterMerlin’s Rest, a bar/restaurant 3 blocks west, has a full bar, good food, and a late hours kitchen. A table has been reserved for Midstream guests.
