Keep up the fight for refugees Snap rally in response to the election result
5.30pm next Friday 31 May
Sydney Town Hall steps
The election result has been a terrible blow to everyone in the offshore camps, worsening the already acute mental health crisis on Manus.
Our friends there and on Nauru need to know that we're not giving up on them. With the Liberals intending to repeal the medevac legislation that was passed in February, it's urgent for us to keep up the fight to Bring Them Here. Join us for a snap rally to help us tell refugees that we stand with them and send the new Morrison government a clear signal: we won't rest till every last refugee is safely in Australia.
12pm Sunday 23 June, Stirrup Gallery, Addison Rd Community Centre
142 Addison Rd Marrickville
Speakers:
Tim O'Connor (Amnesty International) Refugee on Manus (via Skype) Refugee Action Coalition
The shock election result means that we have another three years of the Liberals' hardline anti-refugee policies. Even the small changes that might have sent 150 refugees from Manus and Nauru to New Zealand are off the agenda. And refugees on temporary protection visas or reliant on government support payments face further punishment. There remain at least 800 people on Manus and Nauru that we must keep fighting to bring to Australia. Join us to discuss what the election result means and how we can continue to fight for refugees and against racism.
Six years too long:
Rally to Bring Manus and Nauru refugees here
2pm Saturday 20 July, Sydney Town Hall
This July will mark six years since the refugees on Manus and Nauru were first sent there. The Morrison government has no solution to resettle the over 800 people left there. Join us to demand they #BringThemHere.
