Winning streak continues
We just can't stop winning! Included in this edition are reports from the wins at Old Priorians and West End Esher.

Egham Roses couldn't field a side this Sunday so instead of playing in front of Windsor Castle, we have picked up an away fixture against Old Wimbledonians. Come down and support the lads!

For those of you wondering about the above image, it's of our victorious captain standing proudly on the bridge his father helped build. Next to Old Priorians' ground apparently. Every day is a school day.
Old Wimbledonians, Sunday 9th June
Daisy has announced the team for this Sunday's game (please see Facebook/WhatsApp/emails for more information).

It's a 1:30pm start at Old Wimbledonians Association Sports Ground, 143 Coombe Lane, Raynes Park, London SW20 0QX.
Match report: West End Esher, 26th May
Game number seven of the 2019 played at NPL against our old rivals Grouse & Label now playing as West End & Esher.

The toss was won by the Judge who elected to field first, confident that whatever score they amassed we would be able to chase it down.

The Judge opened the bowling in this 30 over a side match and bowled six overs straight and finished with 1 for 16 runs.

The Godfather opened at the other end and he too bowled his full allotment over six overs and finished with 1 for 39 runs.

Naresh bowled six overs, 1 for 21, Lucky bowled six overs, 3 for 20 runs, Smarty bowled 3 overs, 1 for 18 runs and Sausage bowled 3 overs, 1 for 24 runs.

After 30 overs West End & Esher scored 150 runs of their 30 overs with the loss of 8 wickets.

After tea the Nomads set about chasing their score of 150 with Daisy and Smartie opening the batting.

They both saw off the opening bowlers and were starting to push the score along nicely when Daisy was first to fall on 28 being caught out at backward point trying to push the score along a little faster.

Next to fall was Smartie on 31, caught behind. Preet was next to go, having scored 9, then Rusty for 2 and Sausage for 4 runs.

Naresh steadied the ship and remained at the crease to the end scoring 41 runs not out ably assisted by Lucky, 2 runs, Flora (who we are now thinking of re-naming “The Statesman” 6 runs and the ever reliable Judge who saw us over the line with 14 not out.

I think the man of the match reward should be shared this week and should go to Naresh for batting superbly and the Judge for his magnificent 6 overs, 2 maidens (the only maidens bowled in the whole match) 1 wicket for 16 runs and then batting at the end of the match and scoring 14 not out.

The most entertaining moment of the match was from the Statesman who dived to his right to field a ball but got there a little early and whilst lying fully stretched out on the floor, watched to ball bounce over his hand and was eventually fielded by Smartie.

Kiran from West End & Esher with the help of Horny laid on a BBQ for all who attended and I would personally like to thank them for their contributions on Sunday, it was a great success.

I would also like to thank all our supporters who made the trip to NPL and in particular to Mrs Daisy who came along early with Smartie’s refurbished bat.

A big thank you to Jill, Gill, Roz, Cheat, Shergar, Flame, Doctor, Barry and Mrs Judge who came along with the family and many more that helped on the day and cheered us on to a great victory.
Match report: Old Priorians, 2nd June
From last year’s defeat we learnt that these guys play really serious cricket; they smashed us all over the ground last time and we lost badly.

Almost an identical XI was selected for this week’s game and with the weather perfect for cricket, the fans were in for a treat.

Skipper Judge won the toss and put the Nomads in to bat first. Smartie and Daisy opened the batting and both of them were looking good; Smartie notably hit 14 runs from the first over.

Both Nomads supported each other well and played their parts looking confident and moving their feet. Unfortunately however after running three, Smartie was exhausted, lost his focus and was helpless as his stumps were destroyed by a quick one.

Naresh was next in to face the quick left arm spinner. He defended well and slowly began to build a partnership.

Daisy was adjudged LBW after a short while having contributed 29 runs.  Debutant Dinesh faced some good deliveries and was caught at mid-on after scoring three runs.

Preet couldn’t defend a straight one that hit his pad and was also sent back to the shed LBW having just heaved a six over mid-on.

Flora joined Naresh and calmly helped build a measured 50-run partnership to put the Nomads in a good position.

In the meantime Naresh ticked off another century, which those who saw it described as ‘magnificent’.

The Nomads finished their innings with 265 runs on the board.

The Judge opened the bowling with Godfather backing up at the other end. The Judge quickly got a breakthrough and heaped pressure on the opposition.

The Nomads kept taking wickets with help from the skipper as well as the Godfather’s deceptive ones while the fielding was excellent, not only saving runs but taking catches.

Both sites playing some serious cricket fighting for the win. The opposition were looking well on course for the 265 runs needed but Lucky had other ideas.

He changed his pace and delivered his magic ball forcing the opposition to play,  but he couldn’t middle it and Naresh attempted to catch him at mid-on.

Nigel’s scream of “go Naresh, catch it!” didn’t exactly help with the nerves but after juggling it twice, Naresh managed to hold on, putting the Nomads back in the game.

The opposition eventually fell short on 245, with 10 catches being taken to win the match – another new record?
Lucky also got the new nickname ‘Happy’ because he was very happy.
Man of the Match – Naresh Kachhawa.

Caption competition
Here is Amar/Flora looking both regal and statesmanlike. Can anyone think of a sutiable caption? I'd vote for him!
