Regional Forum public session:

Facing our Future: Tourism and Recreation

We welcome you to join us in a panel discussion to learn more about tourism and recreation as it relates to water in the Waiau area.

We'll hear from the Department of Conservation, Real Journeys and Destination Fiordland, followed by a time for questions.

Freshwater affects all areas of the community, and these public sessions continue to provide an opportunity for stakeholders and community members to share perspectives which are important to them.

This public session forms part of the third workshop for the forum members. Each workshop includes a public session which aims to further the conversation and knowledge of the forum members, while providing members of the public with an opportunity to hear the same information and discuss issues with members in an informal setting. All workshops, including public sessions, are facilitated by Barbara Nicholas.

Where: Distinction Lakefront, Te Anau

When: 6.00pm to 7.30pm, Thursday 20 June 2019
Refreshments provided from 6.00pm.

Winter grazing

Rules for intensive winter grazing have changed this year, and a resource consent may be required for this activity.

Read more about the rules and what's required here; or give our consents team a call to discuss your farm more specifically.

Hearing begins

The hearing on the appeals to the proposed Southland Water and Land Plan began in the Environment Court this week.

The hearing is public, so you are welcome to attend at any stage. It's being held at the Ascot Park Hotel in Invercargill for two weeks. All the documents relating to the appeals are available online at www.es.govt.nz/waterandland.
