Realise Business
E-newsletter  |  June 2019

While people often think that the end of the financial year (EOFY) is all about the numbers, it’s also the perfect time to review business operations and plan for the months ahead. Speaking with an Advisor at this time of year can help you explore new ideas, develop strategies and document plans for growth.

Aside from one-to-one business advisory sessions, the team have been working to bring together local restaurants to develop the first ever Parramatta Restauranteurs' Collaborative. You can read our wrap-up of the first event and the plan to focus on raising Parramatta’s profile as a key dining destination. There were a number of great ideas developed on the day and we look forward to working with the group on this exciting initiative. Stay tuned for details about the next meeting.

In reaching people through a collaborative marketing campaign or in using your own initiatives, communicating what you have to offer is key to engaging more customers. To hear how others have achieved success in this area, read our case study about the Parramatta Active Movement Studio.

Do you understand your rights and responsibilities as a tenant or landlord? On the 16th and 24th July, Michael Miller from the NSW Small Business Commission will present a Retail and Commercial Lease Workshop for local businesses, including a networking and Q&A session. Scroll below to learn more and to register for one of the two upcoming events.

EOFY Planning | A Time for reflection and refocus

An increasing number of business owners are successfully using the end of the financial year (EOFY) to understand their numbers, celebrate their successes, review and actively plan for the financial year ahead.

Some time-friendly, practical steps that you can take to grow your business in the new financial year include:

Develop a written plan. In her recent article, ‘2 Things Successful Business Owners Do Differently,’ CEO of Realise Business Jacqui Attard highlighted the importance of having a written plan to strengthen your business as it grows and evolves. Taking the time to document this plan now, will help free up time so you can work on your business over the coming months.

Explore finance options. Did you know there are a number of finance options on offer for business? Business Connect has the latest advice, news and information to help you access finance options that will support business operations for the months ahead.

Learn more about your numbers. Your numbers ultimately reflect the health of your business. Realise Business Advisor Katherine Blizard can work with you to provide clarity around your budgets, expenses, cost of goods and services (COG’s) and the income you will need to offset those costs. This advice, at the start of the new financial year, will put you on the front foot.

Restauranteurs' Collaborative plans to light up Parramatta as a key dining destination

Some of Parramatta’s key restaurant owners and operators recently attended the inaugural meeting of ‘The Restauranteurs' Collaborative’ on 4 June 2019 at Bay Visa Dessert Bar and Café.

The new initiative, designed to lift the profile of Parramatta as one of Sydney’s key dining destinations, was attended by twenty-seven owners and operators, The Hon. Alan Cadman OAM representing the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce and Realise Business Advisors.

Realise Business Advisors shared their knowledge with local business owners and the group expressed their enthusiasm for future co-operative marketing and branding opportunities.

How targeted marketing has helped the Parramatta Active Movement Studio grow

With a strong passion for movement, exercise and helping people achieve their full physical function, Mathew and Kyle started Active Movement Studio in the Parramatta CBD.

Physiotherapist Mathew had previously worked in a standard clinic for many years without access to a functioning gym. He realised that he needed to combine his Physiotherapy treatments with the help of an experienced Exercise Physiologist. Similarly, Kyle also found that many clients who wanted to be active had aches, pains and injuries that were either poorly managed, incorrectly diagnosed or were not actively seeking treatment.

“The individualised health and fitness programs are specifically designed to address underlying musculoskeletal, postural and biomechanics issues that lead to pain and injury. With a strong belief that prevention is better than cure, we also run Clinical Pilates, Strength and Fitness classes,” explains Kyle.

“Sara has been our marketing saviour. We found marketing confusing and lacked the experience to find the right words that would speak to our customers. We did not have clear business marketing messages, structured campaigns, identified target markets and a sales process that took prospects from lead to conversion. Sara helped us really analyse what we do and who we do it for, this enabled us to effectively market our services to the right people,” said Mathew.

As a winter special, Active Movement Studio are offering a 60-minute Integrated Health Assessment for just $75 (a saving of $165). The assessment includes:
  • 30-minute Physiotherapy assessment to identify pain parameters
  • 30-minute postural analysis with one of our Exercise Physiologists
  • Report of findings and recommendations.
The offer ends July 31 2019, so get started on your active life today.
