Spring Hiking Series June 4 - 22

June 4, 11, 18 Tuesdays 5:30-7:00pm with Half Day Hike: Saturday, June 22nd, 9:00am-12noon

Adventure Running and Yoga July 4 - August 22
Thursdays 5:30-7pm

Adventure Running is a weekly coached training program designed to improve your skills as a trail runner through individual and group coaching. Learn effective running techniques to increase performance and decrease risk of injury. Improve your hill climbing and descending skills and increase your technical trail running confidence. Gain trail running safety skills and learn to navigate using a map in the trails. Learn how to train smart, fuel smart and race smart. Get ready to work hard, have fun and fulfill your sense of adventure in the Valley's beautiful trails!

Sunrise Flow Lole Meet-Up June 19!
Join Coach Sarah for a beautiful Sunrise Flow session on the beach and start your day with energy, love and light! This Lole Meet Up will include a warm up walk (all levels) followed by mobility exercises and poses to help you wake up and greet the day.

Meet Ups are free of charge for those who pre-register and all participants will receive a small gift from Lole.

Hornby Organic will be providing their delicious bars to all participants and we will be giving away beautiful Lole Yoga mats - must be pre-registered to be entered in the draw.

The session will run from 6:00-7:00am starting with a walk, yoga practice then a calming nature meditation.

Come on out to celebrate the solstice, connect with beautiful new friends and start your day off the right way - with movement!

Summer Solstice ELM Family Potluck!
Calling all ELM Members! Let's get together at the Lake for a fun summer social to celebrate the longest days of the year! Bring a dish to share, a game to play and maybe even your swimsuit if the weather is nice! Option to drop in to ELM Adventure Running clinic beforehand for a fun run.

We would love it if you could also bring your family-the more the merrier! Hope to see you there!

Coach Sarah's 'Navigating the MOMAR 101' Program!

MOMAR 101 – NAVIGATING THE MOMAR:

MOMAR 101 is for new Adventure Racer who would like a comprehensive introduction to adventure racing and the navigation skills needed to successfully complete a MOMAR race and other shorter adventure races. This course focuses on navigation. This one day course is perfect for first-time racers, and challenging enough for those who want to polish more advanced racing and navigation skills. Be prepared for plenty of inside racing tips specific to the MOMAR! Minimum 6 participants required for the clinic to go. Sign up early as these clinics sell out quickly.

Client Highlight - Leah Johns
We were so inspired by Leah's story that we wanted to share it with you!

"I learned about ELM from a friend. They were joining the spring trail running series and I thought hey! That’s something I’d like to learn. The first times out were fun but tough. This was asking a lot more from my body than what I had asked from it before and I was feeling it on and off the trails.  Sarah and her team of coaches were amazing in helping me find my running groove, teaching me efficiency techniques, drives, how to warm up when to taper. I was a total Newb and soaked in as much as I could. I realized I was going to need more than will to find my joy and lightness on the trails so I joined her morning bootcamps to give my muscles the needed boost to enjoy these outdoor activities I was getting into.

Cut to a year later and I’m still doing it! What started out as a fun whim turned into something I desperately needed.  Not only does Sarah help you strengthen your body but she helps you strengthen your mind. She helped me dream and to wonder what was my body capable of. I had gotten into a place in my life where I was shying away from challenges and things that seemed too difficult. But she taught me that my mind was the most powerful tool in the body and with her support and that of the coaches I learned to train it too.  Through our discussions and my own trials with the power of thought I learned to stay and not run from the self doubt and I worked on my own mantra to counter those, ‘I cant do it’ moments. I remember the first time we ran part of the original perseverance trail called Tomato creek and I thought to myself this is slog hiking ..who runs or would want to run this?! But people did and the views.. so worth it! It wasn’t long before I was playing with the idea of running the race .. a final celebration for the summers hard work. And then there I was in October crossing the finish line with family cheering me on. So this running whim turned into a thing, with friends joining and more races being run. I keep growing in my fitness and health goals with Sarah and the crew at ELM and couldn’t feel happier and more supported. Here’s to an amazing summer outside!"

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Healthy Community Fund! ELM is donating 5% of all our program fees to a special Fund that will provide health and wellness opportunities for individuals and groups in our community who do not have the resources to access them on their own. And we couldn’t be more stoked!
