Resident Update
Ailments and sickness that come with age can be incredibly isolating. Connections formed in a close knit community can make a world of difference. Full story below.
Pictured above are Hope & A Future residents, Rosemarie and Joyce, reuniting after several days apart. Rosemarie has been receiving treatment for some physical ailments that have required her to temporarily stay elsewhere. The house is not the same without her style and fun loving spirit. For being such a little person, she has big presence. This week, with the help of our faithful volunteer, Michelle, we were able to take the residents to visit her - and we came with Culver's custard, Rosemarie's favorite. She gasped with joy when she saw us filing into her little room. We sat and visited, catching her up on everything that's been going on at Hope & A Future. There were hugs galore before we had to leave, and Rosemarie thanked us profusely for making her day.

Rosemarie will be returning soon, and much of her quick turnaround is due to the motivation she has to get back to Hope & A Future. "I just want to come home", she has said to the countless friends, volunteers, residents, family, and staff members who have visited her during this time. There is even an email thread to organize visits, making sure that someone is there every day to make her smile. Having a family of friends' love and support has inspired her to work hard at getting stronger so that she can get back home. Everyone wants to be loved and know they are missed by the ones who love them. Without connections, real relationships to fight for, it's so easy to give up. Love is worth fighting for and Rosemarie has chosen to keep fighting. We couldn't be happier about it and cannot wait to have our family of friends back together again.
