Schwartz's Point in The News

As you may have seen from our last newsletter, we were asking those who love Schwartz's Point to please come in and support us during the first few weeks of May as we had a number of bills, including the fees for the liquor license, come in at the same time.  Cincinnati CityBeat saw our post and put out an article asking people to come and support us in our pivotal time.  Many people said they couldn't make it, and asked if we could make a GoFundMe page so they could donate to keep us afloat.  We obliged and were able to garner enough funding to pay the liquor license fees and pay the very high insurance bill.  All of this gained us the attention of Local 12 News, who came in to do a 3 - minute segment on us, and our fund-raising efforts!
It was a very eventful couple of weeks!  We are so very thankful to all those involved in helping us and we hope that more and more people will find out about, and frequent, our little club, so that we will not run into this predicament again. Special thanks, too, to miss Rawnica Dillingham - who went above and beyond in support of the Point!!
Look for another article, to be released this Thursday or Friday, from WVXU, written by Julie Nisen of Wine Me Din Me Fame!

Introducing Jazz Pub Night at the Point

Thursdays have been a bit challenging to get people out for music and we've been asked by a number of foks to be open as a neighborhood bar on occasion, so we now have at least one Jazz Pub Night each month!  This is an opportunity for people to explore our intimate little room without having to pay a cover or attend a live performance.  So contact a few friends, grab a few drinks, and settle into a little old-world ambiance at the Point this Thursday, June 6th.

In July, Jazz Pub Night is June 4th, so mark your calendar and make plans to relax at the Point!

On Friday, June 7th, Pat Battston joins us from Boston, on piano, and has assembled a number of great local musicians to fill out  his quartet, including Eric Wurzelbacher on sax, Terrell Montgomery on bass, and Lee McKinney on drums. This performance is sure to be great fun!

On Saturday, June 8th, we have the Ron Enyard Trio.  With Ron on drums, Dan Drees on Sax, and Justin Dawson on Bass, we are looking at an estimated combined 100 years of music crafting experience! Made up of three generations of musicians playing together and having a great time, you can't help but get caught up in the moment. Plus, there is a really good chance that Ron will have you chuckling by the end of the evening!

If you are holding out your trip to the Point for something really exciting and full of energy and talent, you'll want to mark your calendar for Saturday, June 15 with the Phil DeGreg Trio!  Phil is a long-time local Jazz piano veteran and he always brings an exciting array of musicians to play with him, often from other countries, so this is definitely going to be a really great show!
Here is one awesome Phil DeGreg show to illustrate how fun his trios are!

On Thursday, June 20th, come join us for our monthly - Música Brasileira w/Thiago Camargo and Marcelo Silviera. These two wonderfully talented Brazilian musicians perform a mix of jazz standards along with an intriguing array of traditional Brazilian tunes.  These shows are so much fun and really informative!  Travel to Brazil for the evening.
Check out a bit of Brazilian Music from Marcelo and Thiago!
Please forgive our mistake!  The photo of Phillip Paul, in today's newsletter, was credited incorrectly. The lovely photo was taken by Tony Arrasmith.  We are sincerely sorry for the mistake.

On Thursday, June 27th, Pat is back with the Society Jazz Orchestra!  If you haven't seen this gaggle of amazing and talented musicians playing the music of the late Ed Moss, you are really in for a treat!  This once-a-month happening is pure magic!  Along with the stunning music, we offer a buffet, on SJO night, that is included in the $10 cover.  The buffet usually consists of lasagna or mac & cheese, a soup (last time it was chicken tortilla), pasta salad, veggies, chips & salsa, dolmas, cookies and/or a pie or cake, and more.  Dinner and an amazing band for only $10! What a deal!
Here's a little snippet of the SJO in action!
