Crêperie La Bohème – To celebrate the end of a wonderful year learning French, we have invited Crêperie La Bohème to the Grade School on Tuesday, June 18 to offer our grade 1 to 8 students delicious crêpes! Please have your orders in by tomorrow, Friday, June 14.
Grocery Cards – The program is wrapping up for the school year on June 15 and will launch again in September for the new school year. In the meanwhile, we do have extra stock in the Accounting Office, and you are welcome to request additional cards at any time.
Upcoming Grade 1 Family Gathering – All upcoming Grade 1 parents are invited to meet Ms. Leila Alemi tomorrow morning, from 8:30-9:30 am in the courtyard outside the Grade 1 classroom. This event is for parents to introduce themselves to Ms. Alemi in an informal setting. Mary Henley and Karen Broom will be on hand to answer any questions.

British Columbia Training & Education Savings Grant Information – Families in British Columbia are encouraged to start planning and saving early for their children’s post-secondary education or training programs. (In Chemistry Main Lesson,) the Grade 11 Students had to design an airbag to protect an egg when dropped from the window of the High School. They used a reaction between Acetic acid (vinegar) and Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) to create Carbon Dioxide Gas. Advanced chemistry concepts of Stoichiometry, Avogadro’s Law and the Ideal Gas Law helped them calculate the optimum amount of reactants to fully inflate a baggie.

They managed to successfully inflate the “airbags” during the drop. Unfortunately, the poor eggs suffered due to engineering challenges ensuring the egg was not cracked by the airbag inflation or it stayed cradled within the airbags on impact.
Now here’s a challenge to our future Grade 11s.........!

It's hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end. I guess it's true what they say, time flies when you're having fun! It has been so wonderful getting to know all of you and your children, and having the privilege of putting together this weekly newsletter. We will have one final newsletter next week. Until then…
