Welcome back Perisse!
Its a full 5 days this week, no public holidays and it could be a wet week so be prepared for wet weather. Wet weather is ‘usually’ called by front office but just like classrooms, we get busy and not always free to monitor and call, so as a team (senior and junior) make a call as required. Wet weather procedure
here.
Also a small reminder, requested from Brenda at the Dental Van, if drinking soft drinks could you use a travel mug. She is concerned about the effects of sugar on our student’s teeth and understands the importance of modelling.
Keep healthy over the next few weeks as it looks like a bad Flu Season.
ATTENDANCE REGISTER VIA INTEGRIS REPORTS
All hubs should have been shown and shared by their hub leader how to register their attendance record daily. As of next week (Week 8) we will be refining the unexplained absences trial that has occurred all term by running a status report of attendance register by 9:30am every morning. This will provide data of which classes have completed the register before 9:30am. It is vitally important (legally and procedurally) that attendance is completed first thing and recorded accurately as we ring parents whose child shows up as ‘unexplained’. It has been noted in a rather few uncomfortable occasions that the child was actually in the class as the parent expected but had not been recorded accurately or not at all. Thank you
FACILITIES / ICT
Over the next six months we will continue to fund ongoing preventative maintenance programs using a combination of funding as well as lobbying the Department for funding through Central funding. Funding for internal Painting, LED lighting and carpets will be committed each year with work commencing this holiday on painting common areas in the senior school.
The Kiss & Ride will be a joint school & P&C project and will hopefully be ready next term.
There is also a commitment to fund work each year on the grounds at Margaret Kindy and a climbing frame has been ordered which again is jointly funded by the school and P&C.
The Department will fund the replacement of the louvers in the upper block and have committed to funding external painting and restoration of woodwork.
The Finance Committee will look at identified Minor Works projects and be a part of the process of prioritising the projects or committing funds through reserve accounts for future projects.
If you see faults such as carpets frayed or lights not working let Sharron or Marjorie know and they will be called through.
Parts of The Old Girl have been around for 112 years and as we all know aging requires love and attention on an ongoing basis. I would love the magic wand of a lotto win, however not everything can be done in one go.
Thank you, Dale and Lorena
