Come to our Spring Fair!
Rain or shine Friday June 7, 2019 5-8pm
EMJS Spring Fair

The annual EMJS Spring Fair will be held on Friday, June 7th from 5-8pm.

  • Parent volunteers are still needed to help run this fun-filled family event. Please sign up for a 30-minute slot here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080f45acac2da2f85-pacspring Thanks to those parents who have already signed up!
  • There will be a bouncy castle, hamster balls, face painting, a cupcake walk, music, a visit from the Victoria Fire Department and more!
  • Cotton candy, hot dogs and veggie dogs will be sold as a fundraiser (cash only!), and food trucks will also be there. Bring your own water bottles and help us recycle waste into the proper bins.
  • Admission is by cash donation (suggested $10-15/family) to cover all the costs of the event, with the hope that we will have some profits leftover to put toward PAC-funded programs next year such as chess lessons, Science Venture and other activities paid for entirely through your fundraising efforts.
Other reminders...
Reminder to Grade 5 Parents

Please email a kindergarten photo of your grade 5 daughter/son to EMJSGRADE5@yahoo.ca by June 14th. Please include in the subject line the name of your child and their division number. If you don’t have an electronic version of your photo, feel free to take a picture of it with your phone and email it as a jpeg. If you don't have a school photo please send an individual photo from that school year/when they were 5 years old. Thank you!
PAC Fundraiser: Monk School Supplies

We have partnered with Monk so that families can once again order school supplies for delivery to your child's classroom in September. Monk will generously donate $3 plus 10% of sales to our PAC for us to put toward programs for next year.

Ordering is now open. To order:

  • Visit http://bts.monk.ca and enter our EMJS PAC code: 330CB3 on the SHOP page.
  • Select the grade and language (FR/EN) that your child will be in NEXT YEAR and add that kit to your cart. The kits automatically contain all the items marked "required" on the school supply lists. Select additional optional items to add to your cart (the "optional" items on the school supply lists may be things you already have at home and don't necessarily need to buy again).
  • New this year, we are adding an "à la carte" option for those who want to build their own kit because they have a number of leftover unused school supplies from previous years - please refer to the school supply lists so that you know what you need to round up from home and what you need to add to your cart.
  • During checkout you can pay with Visa or Mastercard and choose free school delivery (to your child's EMJS classroom in Sept), free in-store pickup, or home delivery.

Upcoming school district meetings

A local group of parents Parents 4 Climate!  are working to encourage the SD61 to develop and implement a climate action plan. They are looking for other parents to attend the District Operations Policy and Planning Meeting on Monday June 10th where they will present their call to action. For more info contact EMJS parent Tara Todesco (taratodesco@gmail.com) or visit their event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/2107212042711233/

For catchment boundary issues, there will be two special boundary review board meetings this month: Wednesday June 19, 2019 and Tuesday June 25, 2019.  The meeting on June 19th is where staff will present the latest set of recommendations to the Board.  There will be an opportunity for participants to provide written input at the meeting. The meeting on June 25th is then intended for the Board of Education to make final deliberations on the latest set of recommendations.
