Congratulations! Delaine Stendahl, Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher, Whitehall, Wisconsin

She is receiving the 2019 Home Baking Association Educator Award! Stendahl’s entry “Ingredient Super-Heroes to the Rescue” combines baking skills and superpowers of baking ingredients as high school culinary arts students work with children in 4K (4-year old Kindergarten) to bake cookies for a family event. Stendahl will receive $1,000 and a trip to the HBA Annual Meeting in Lake Placid, NY! More info here

!  Finalist will compete in the nation's only national amateur bread-baking competition.  Demonstrations, exhibits hands-on activities, free food samples, fun kids’ zone and the live baking competition make for a terrific fun filled day! HBA Members and Staff conducting the Ask the Baker and Main Stage Demonstrations!

Vegetable shortening:

Vegetable oil (soybean or cottonseed) that is processed into a solid fat. It is 100% fat with no water, milk fat, or other non-fat solids added. It is nearly flavorless and is used for imparting flakiness and tenderness. Most solid shortenings are now trans-fat free.
