We, the board members of Big Bald Lake Cottagers’ Association, have been asked to bring forth a proposal from the Milkhouse Quarry to our members to vote on.   As this is an important decision for our community we have gathered as much information from both sides to help us make this decision together. However depending on where you live in proximity to the quarry you could have different opinions on noise vs traffic concerns and we hope that no matter what the final decision is that we can continue to enjoy our lives on the lake with each other in harmony.  Our goal is to continue to develop a thriving community on Big Bald Lake, to do everything in our power to ensure our natural environments are protected.

A few facts:
The current restrictive covenant was setup between the Big Bald Lake Cottagers' Association and Jackel Rapids Developments on August 15, 2006, it's sole purpose was to restrict the removal of construction aggregate (crushed stone) for 25 years.  It does not restrict the removal of dimension or landscaping stone. Link to Restrictive Covenant scan

We have been informed by Dan Slobodian that the Milkhouse Quarry will begin to be used as a landscape dimension quarry this summer unless we agree to revise the current covenant. Link to Email Proposal

The current Covenant expires on August 15, 2031

We give thanks to the volunteers who have researched the quarry issue and we have the research posted on our environmental page for you to review.  Please note, as volunteers we have put together as much information as we have found but you are encouraged to research this matter further so you can make an informed decision before casting your vote.
