Photo Challenge
We haven't completed the second part of the Photo Challenge yet, as not many people have uploaded their efforts.
How about giving it a go?

Once you've sharpened, brightened, contrasted and whatever else you want to do, just save the file and upload it to the website. You'll find a spot in the drop down menu.
There is no right or wrong with this. It won't be up for any points. It's about trying and then learning about what judges would say about the image so you can have more confidence working on your own images.

Workshop Night:
Different perspectives
The next Workshop evening is on Thursday 20 June.
It's a hands on night so bring your cameras and be prepared to look at compositions from a new perspective. Too often we take photos from a standing view, when changing the angles can make a huge difference to the "wow" factor of a photo.
We are setting up several work stations with different still life items to play with, and the challenge will be to think about how you can create an image from different angles in small groups.
Bring your camera, phone, tripod, flash, torch or other lighting you might want to try.
Here are some tutorials to help you get inspired.
Feel free to bring your own items to help create some illusions!

Exploring National Park
Friday 1 November to Sunday 3 November 2019
Led by Noel Herman, this outing will be heading down to National Park, probably staying in Pipers Lodge and will have easy day walks to the many gorgeous places around the mountains. Suitable for all ages, and you can walk as much or as little as you want.
Tiritiri Matangi Island
Sunday 18 August to Wednesday 21 August 2019
This popular trip to the bird-filled island of Tiritiri Matangi is organized by Margaret Hooper each year. Go on a day trip by ferry from Gulf Harbour on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula or spend a few days on the island to really get close to nature.
If you are interested in spending a day or weekend on this fascinating island, please add your name to the list on the front desk on Thursday night.
Rotoroa Island
early to mid October 2019
This island was closed to the public for 100 years and was best known as a retreat for alcoholics. You can now stay there in houses and there are lots of birds, gorgeous vistas and bays to explore.
This trip is being organised by Donna Russell, with dates to be confirmed.
If you are interested in going on any of these trips, for the entire time or as a day tripper, please let the tour leader know and put your name down on a list at the registration desk at the next meeting.

Our friends over at the Dargaville Camera Club are holding an exhibition at the Muddy Waters Gallery, 43 Hokianga Road, Dargaville - next to the Anzac Theatre.
The exhibition opened on Friday May 24 and runs until 19 June.
So if you are over on the west coast, pop in and see what they've been up to!

Our own Exhibition
Our club will also be holding an exhibition in November this year.
Please start to think about the two images that you would like to exhibit.
These will be prints of A4 size, frames will be provided.

Photo Processing Course
Barbara Herman is planning to hold a course on how to use the On1 photo editing software.
The course would be held over one day, costing $10.
- BYO lunch
- BYO laptop or computer and screen.
- You would also need to download a free trial/buy a copy of On1 software.
If you go on to buy the software, it can be installed on up to five machines.

On1 is pretty cool, and would be used instead of Photoshop or Lightroom. It's also more reasonably priced than those programs.
Developed by photographers, it has good support and loads of tutorials.
Like all software, there is a learning curve which Barbara will try and help you smoothly navigate!
The course date will be set once she knows how many are interested in taking part.

Set your Self-assignment
This is your own project for the year, where you get to choose your topic and put together a portfolio of three to five images. The idea is to push yourself to try new techniques and advance your knowledge and creativity.
Make sure you choose your topic soon, so you can start to put images aside for that as it seems to come around very quickly! There is a cool trophy too!

If you don't want to have to find coins for meeting nights, you can pay $40 to cover your meeting fees for the year. The total would be $165 per couple, $105 per single or $70 per junior.
