June 2019

Dear <<First name*>>–

Welcome to summer in the northern hemisphere! Although it's remained pretty cold and wet here in England, we're still holding out hope for a great summer. In this issue I have a huge amount of exciting news for you, so be sure to scroll down for all the highlights.

Nat & Ruth Coalson in RomaniaFirst, Ruth and I recently celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary (and, therefore, seven years that I've lived in England!). As part of our celebration, we spent an amazing two weeks in Romania, leading a private photo tour for a couple of very special clients from the U.S. It was an incredible adventure—and an immersive and authentic experience—that included meeting and photographing the wonderful people and places throughout Transylvania and Maramures. (Get in touch if you'd like to discuss booking a bespoke, private photo workshop anywhere in the world.)

Earlier in March, I led a new classroom-style workshop that I've recently put together, titled Photography as Fine Art. The full-day event was very well attended and I thoroughly enjoyed working with all the students on each of their respective visions as creative photographers.

Over the past several years, I've been very active around the UK camera club circuit and have enjoyed speaking and presenting at photography groups all over the country. This spring, I was also honoured to be the judge for the annual exhibition of the Leicester and Leicestershire Photographic Society, one of the area's most active and successful clubs. I had the pleasure of viewing a fantastic range of prints and digital images ... and the selection process was very challenging, with nearly 800 images submitted.

This May I also had a return visit to the amazing Photo London—easily one of the best photography-related events I've had the good fortune to attend. This was my third time visiting the show and it was the best yet! Nowhere else have I seen such a selection of truly fine art photography in all styles, genres and price points. If you're ever able to attend Photo London, I recommend you take the opportunity. I also attended the seminar programme at Format Festival in Derby. This is another of the UK's most successful photography events, held every two years and produced mainly by QUAD and the University of Derby.

Photography as fine art remains my enduring passion… and my Mission is to promote, inform and educate collectors and photographers alike about the joys of this amazing medium.

Thanks for being here to share the journey with me!

All my best,

(Continue reading below for much more of my art and photography news ... and see you soon!)

Introducing Gallery Photiq

Ruth and I are ecstatic about the upcoming launch this autumn of our new gallery and print studio in Leamington Spa, England. Those of you who have followed my photographic art practice over the years (thank you!) may know that opening a gallery has been my goal and ultimate vision for many years.

Gallery Photiq LogoGallery Photiq will serve as the main showroom for my work, but the concept has evolved to be much more. For starters, I'll be representing the work of a handful of other fine art photographers whose work I know well. I will also curate temporary exhibitions, group shows and special events with visiting photographic artists. And we'll have a full programme of ongoing training events along with fine art printing services.

I'll be sharing many more details over the coming weeks ... Stay tuned as we ramp up to launch time!
