Sangres Pack-In Coming Up!

Impressive snowpack still remains in the high alpine, but our basecamp pack-in to the Willow Lake Basin in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is still scheduled for June 15-17! We need your help to get our supplies packed in for our crews who will spend the next 3 months working to reconstruct the summit trail to Kit Carson Peak and Challenger Point. Come join us for an awesome hike as part of our pack-in team! Sign up here!

Want to Run the Barr Trail Mountain Race on July 28?

As a thanks to those giving the trail some much needed love prior to the big event, the Barr Trail Mountain Race will offer discounts to all volunteers! Simply join a Barr Trail workday and respond to our post-workday "thank you" email to request your discount code. Volunteers will receive a $10 off entry for each workday they attend! One lucky volunteer will also be contacted the week of July 15 with a code for FREE entry!

Fund Your Fourteener Event a Great Success!

On May 15, RMFI co-hosted an event in partnership with the National Forest Foundation to raise funds to support our Devil's Playground and Kit Carson Peak projects through the Find Your Fourteener campaign. Thanks to everyone who joined us at this great event, and to the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum for hosting. We appreciate all of your support as we gear up for another busy field season completing highly impactful projects on Colorado's iconic 14,000 foot peaks!

The RMFI Cowbell

We are starting a new feature in the e-news -- the RMFI Cowbell. We have a tradition at the RMFI office where we celebrate our successes by ringing a cowbell. This monthly blurb will provide an update of project and program successes.

Click here for the first edition of the RMFI Cowbell.

RMF-IPA Still on Tap at Fossil Craft Beer Company!

Have you tried the RMF-IPA yet?? The RMFI collaboration brew at Fossil Craft Beer Company is still flowing, and it is delicious! Don't miss out on having a glass or taking home a growler of this limited edition IPA brewed with only Colorado sourced ingredients! It’s hazy, piney, juicy, and proceeds go directly to RMFI's local trail trail and restoration work!

Thank You, Pizzeria Rustica!
Thank you to Pizzeria Rustica for hosting RMFI on May 14 for their last wine benefit dinner of the year! The “Passport To Where You Want to Be” dinner featured homemade burrata with flatbread and kumquat marmalade, heirloom tomato carpaccio salad, fire-braised chicken pizza with figs and roasted garlic, porchetta with roasted brussel sprouts, and chocolate cherry almond cake to top it all off. A portion of the proceeds from the dinner benefitted RMFI’s stewardship work in the Pikes Peak Region.
Best Wishes to Longtime Staff Member, Liz Nichol
Liz Nichol, RMFI’s longtime office manager, retired on May 1 after working for the organization for 16 years! It’s hard to put into words the impact that Liz had (and likely will continue to have) on RMFI. Her contributions to the organization are numerous and her in-depth knowledge of RMFI’s history, finances, and programs are unmatched. We wish nothing but the best to Liz in her well-deserved retirement and thank her for her tireless work to get RMFI to where it is today - we couldn’t have done it without her. We will miss you, Liz!
A Warm Welcome to Our Newest Team Members!
We are thrilled to announce that RMFI has brought on a couple of new awesome team members!

Jesse Rochette joins RMFI as our first-ever "Gear Volunteer"! Jesse comes to us with tremendous technical expertise and we are so grateful for his help in keeping up with critical tool maintenance and repair work during our busy field season.

Dianaliz Cruz-Rodriguez, a rising junior at Sierra High School, has joined our team as a Generation Wild Intern. This role has Dianaliz serving as a Junior Field Instructor to assist in our field-based projects and programs.

Become a Citizen Scientist

Citizen science is the involvement of the public in community-driven scientific research and provides a sustainable system for monitoring land stewardship and restoration activities. RMFI's Citizen Science program engages community volunteers in the measurement of ecological parameters at RMFI project sites over time. Currently the program is focused in Garden of the Gods with plans to expand to additional locations in future years.

New Patient Program!

Looking for a dentist office? Look no further than Kissing Camels Family Dentistry, now supporting RMFI through their new patient donation program, and also volunteering as a staff this summer to help with the Devil's Playground Reroute project!

Support RMFI While You Shop!

RMFI is proud to be partnering with King Soopers and City Market on their Community Rewards Program! Just by doing your regular grocery shopping, you can help RMFI raise funds to support our mission, and helping us is really easy. All you have to do is link your store loyalty cards to RMFI so that we get a percentage of your normal purchases. To enroll, login to your King Soopers account and/or your City Market account, click the Community Rewards link on the left, search for “Rocky Mountain Field Institute”, and click the “Enroll” button. It’s that easy!

Your Supports Counts!

We are a small but feisty organization that packs a punch! We leverage a small staff and small budget to create big on-the-ground results. We value (and rely on!) the generosity of others and are committed to being responsible stewards of the time, money, and gifts entrusted to us. If you care about local public lands, please consider making a financial contribution to support our work and the natural landscapes we call home.
