My newest book
is due out September 3:
This book will change the conversation about near-death experiences, life after death, life before birth, reincarnation, and the life continuum. It will startle and surprise you, as we all have bought into the “out-of-the-mouth-of-babes” syndrome without paying much attention to how kids who had a near-death experience grow up. What they face is not what you think.
“The Forever Angels” is dedicated to Tracy Coen. Her near-death experience occurred in utero while her mother was attempting suicide. Memories of both her episode and its aftereffects became a lifelong journey into the very heart of her soul. She was very anxious to read the results of this study but died before it could be finished. We all miss you, Tracy.
Drawing on interviews and communications with nearly 400 childhood experiencers, both fully matured and young, Atwater explores their accounts of what it is like to be alive on the other side of death, as well as what makes them different from others, complemented by a deep analysis of statistical evidence from her more than 40 years of NDE research, involving nearly 5,000 people. She shows how, in contrast to adult experiencers, child and infant experiencers of near-death states cannot compare “before” with “after” as adults do, because they don’t have a “before.” The world of these “forever angels” is the life continuum, a stream of consciousness that has always existed and always will. Integrating “where they once were” with “where they now are” is a lifelong challenge. Atwater explores how those who have a near-death experience very early in life, or even in utero, grow up “different” - sometimes geniuses, sometimes lost, yet unusually psychic and smart, all at the same time. She reveals how these experiences and a knowledge of the afterlife affect the individual in many areas, including family life, dating, health, education, and spirituality, as well as increasing the experiencer’s potential for thoughts of suicide, out-of-body experiences, and PTSD symptoms.
Today, most book buyers have never heard of me. I tried to get on the Dr. Oz show but was informed they only accept experiencers, not researchers. Ahem! I died three times in three months in 1977, each time had a different NDE, and was told by “The Voice Like None Other” to do the work I do. That makes me a double: experiencer/researcher. Since so few people have read my little book, I Died Three Times In 1977 - The Complete Story, the following link will take you to a shortened version:
. . . . this is a book about the challenge tiny tots who die and come back face. Lots of drawings and stories - about their otherworldly realities, womb memories, and their wide-awake clarity of being born.
The information in this book is absolutely hands-down true. Enlightening and illuminating, this book is a landmark work, pitch-perfect in understanding the minds of young children in the wake of a near-death experience (NDE) from birth to age 5 and their oftentimes challenging paths into adulthood - as they, with their unique genius are seldom on the same page as everyone else! An NDE is a profound experience that keeps informing us throughout our lives. This book is incredible, fascinating, informative, and striking in its simplicity - for child experiencers and their parents - at whatever age they are now. To find someone who understands is priceless. Can’t recommend this book highly enough!
According to P. M. H. Atwater, her new study establishes that the full pattern of aftereffects - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual - has afar greater impact on children (and adults) than anyone thought or has found before. She concludes that it takes the average child experiencer at least twenty to forty years to integrate their NDE, because they usually try to compensate, to adjust, and to ignore. This new book is a very important and valuable contribution to our knowledge and insight about NDE in very young children.
Bruce Greyson, M.D., Carlson Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences:
In The Forever Angels, P. M. H. Atwater tackles the particular challenges of the very youngest near-death experiencers, but from an innovative angle. In this novel approach, Atwater interviewed hundreds of people near the end of life who recalled having had an NDE in their first years of life. This strategy gives us an unprecedented “long view” of how NDEs influence these children over the entire course of their lives. Unlike adult experiencers, these children did not have the chance to develop “normal” attitudes and behaviour patterns before their NDEs, which makes them a unique group of people, with unique traits and challenges. There is no other book like this, nor is there likely to be one.
In her truly groundbreaking book, P. M. H. Atwater has boldly gone where no researcher has dared to go before - into the lives of the newly born who have had NDEs. And what she has found gives us an important new way to view NDEs - for these children, it isn’t what we thought. P. M. H. Atwater is the field’s most creative and tireless researcher! Actually, it’s a helluva book.
I had a near-death experience when I was five years old, and I have not understood my early childhood difficulties until I read The Forever Angels. Besides helping you understand yourself, this book’s greatest value may be for parents who need to understand an alienated child, a child in great need of finding security at home.
One of the most influential researchers into the mystery of the Near-Death Experience is P. M. H. Atwater. She has given a voice to those whose experiences during childhood and infancy has, to date, been somewhat neglected and, in doing so, has given other authors like myself, a great deal of food for thought and an intriguing new area of investigation.
P. M. H. Atwater is unafraid to venture into sketchily charted territory. Using her considerable knowledge and skills, in direct staccato style, she exposes life experiences too fragile or too subliminal for others to have unmasked. Read The Forever Angels; you will be guided beyond the mundane into our larger existence.
If you want to know what really happens in near-death and out-of-body experiences in the words of real people in the real world, look no further. P. M. H. Atwater has assembled an astonishing collection of accounts that shows us not only what occurs during these events, but how they impact the individual’s development over the lifespan. A beautiful work!
As a psychotherapist, I found the book expanded my understanding of the powerful impact of NDEs on children’s development. I recommend this very readable, very interesting book full of detailed information that will be especially relevant for psychotherapists working with young children.

In The Forever Angels, Historical Cases Chapter, is mention of the most unusual, in-depth, and striking series of NDEs I have yet to investigate - those of Walter Russell.
He, and later with his wife Lao Russell,
wrote many books. The most stunning by Walter is The Universal One.
Finally, after several decades, his art, his science, and his many accomplishments are being gathered under one roof in Waynesboro, Virginia.
Located at 518 West Main Street,
in the historic downtown of Waynesboro, VA.

Set to open November, 2019
They are here, our new children…
As are those who have had a near-death experience as a small child. Children in both groups have memories about life in “bright worlds,” and tell stories that puzzle their parents. About half of today’s youngsters have memories of birth and being in their mother’s womb, memories the world denies them. With the smallest of near-death experiencers, those talked about in The Forever Angels, around 90% do. To address the questions they ask, I designed a series of small books for small kids under the heading of Animal Lights.
I created six of them, using animal babies to recreate what human babies might experience, remember, and certainly talk about. The 'animal babies' in these books are designed to help children read and can help them remember their own memories and explore what it was like in the womb, in the birth canal - the “big squeeze” - with some making it and others not.
Children want to know about this. They want to ask questions.
Now that The Forever Angels will be out in print and the world
knows what the average near-death child knows and remembers,
it is finally time to bring out Animal Lights.
Time wasn’t right before. But today we need only a good artist plus the time/expertise needed to “make it so.” We can turn to Digital Publishing to bring all six out as inexpensive e-books, available internationally for only a few dollars.
Although we may have found someone who will actually produce the e-books, we will still need monies to cover costs. Donations will be needed to accomplish this and (hopefully) pay the artist.
Art samples, sketches for a newborn hedgehog, skunk, kitten, fawn, horse, monkey are needed, plus animal parts, like a tail, face, limbs, paw. These are to wind around words/letters, with only one big portrait of the animal at the close of each small book will are also needed.
See future newsletters for more information.
