Early this year I painted a large (2.5'x4') Pipevine Monarch Butterfly for the exhibit. I love the splashes of orange and white spots contrasted with the butterfly's blue-black wings, so I titled my piece "Bold Beauty." In keeping with my environmental concerns, I used only paint I obtained from the Hazardous Waste Recycling facility at the Larimer County Landfill, and the surface is a plexiglass-covered photo that I salvaged from a dumpster several years ago.
The
Blossoms & Butterflies exhibit is open today and tomorrow (Wednesday & Thursday, June 5 & 6) from 12:00-6:00pm; and Friday and Saturday (June 7 & 8) from 12:00-9:00pm. Tickets are required to enter the show Saturday night 6:00-9:00pm, but otherwise the exhibit is FREE!
