Waterbury Reservoir Day Use Area

Closed Until the Water Goes Down

June 3, 2019

The Waterbury Day Use Park in Waterbury Center is still closed due to heavy ran and the resulting runoff. The water is so high it covers the beach and the railroad ties at the grass border. The ramp on the boat launch is covered in silt which may cause a vehicle to lose traction. The water is so murky that there is less than about 3" of visibility into the water,
Yikes, what a mess!
Cotton Brook, Blush Hill and the launch at the dam are open.
There is a lot of debris floating in the murky brown water so power boaters should keep a sharp eye out for large sticks and logs.

Please take extra care when using the reservoir!

The river is forming a huge delta at the mouth of the river. Karen Bates from the Watershed Management Division of Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation estimates the area as 13 acres in size.
