A New Day Dawns: Strength from the Holy Spirit

The bills are piling up. The family appears to be on the brink of crisis. Work fills your mind with stress, and your schedule is so full that you don’t even have time to think. Jesus reminds us that we aren't fighting the stressors of life by ourselves. Even though he has ascended into heaven, he sends his Holy Spirit to give us strength by reminding us that no matter what is going on around us, our sins are still forgiven and we still have spiritual peace with God. This weekend we celebrate the festival of Pentecost and the joy of knowing that Jesus is still with us through the power of his Holy Spirit. Worship at St. John's features a sermon based on Genesis 11:1-9 (First Lesson).

Readings to prepare for worship:
Genesis 11:1-9 - At Babel, God confuses languages and scatters people all over the earth.
Acts 2:1-21 - At Pentecost, God reconciles languages and brings together people from all over the earth.
John 15:26,27 - Jesus promises to send the Holy Spirit to help the disciples testify all over the earth.

God's blessings on your weekend! See you at worship!
