CrossPoint Wesleyan Church in Bethlehem, PA, is planning a mission trip to Red Rock Wesleyan Church located on the Navajo Reservation in Arizona and pastored by Rev. Darwin Tsosie. The departure date is Monday, September 9; the arrival home date is approximately Friday, September 20. The goals are to install a metal roof on the fellowship building, to work on other maintenance issues such as painting and drywall repair in the church, and to host a tea party for the women.
CrossPoint has previously sent mission teams to Red Rock Wesleyan Church first in 2010, and then in 2012 and 2016. As a result, we have established a meaningful connection with Pastor Tsosie, his wife Ann, their family and the congregation. An all-important result of going there is the encouragement the team provides for Pastor Darwin and the Navajo people. Not many are willing to come to the reservation because of its isolation, dirt roads and lack of running water. There are no showers, and the toilet facilities consist of the outdoor privy. However, the land with its red rocks and sagebrush is incredibly beautiful, as are the horses that roam the high plains.
