The season is in full swing and events are lining up as crazy. This year sure is a gamechanger and on multiple fronts. With new fleets popping up everywhere and more and more sailors recognising that this is one fun way to spend your free time, we are now the fastest growing sailing community in Europe. It is an honour to be a part of this movement, and I am proud to be one of you!

The Challenge

We have done The Challenge and it was the largest gathering of our sailboats to date. The weather gave us a perfect window of sunny and calm conditions, so the race almost turned to a pleasure cruise if not for tightly matched sailing battles. At the end, after more than 22 hours of sailing the winners (and next 10 places) were decided in the last half mile. 

Spi Ouest

It was not long before we hit the road again. On the schedule was the first big race for our emerging class of 24s.  It was in La Trinité-sur-Mer, where we were greeted by a fleet of 18 boats - what a sight that was. See for yourself in the video above.

Spi Ouest-France was the first race of the First Cup - a revived series of regattas consisting out of three individual events (Spi Ouest, Grand Prix Ecole Navale and Beneteau cup). Read the impressions from Ana in the article.

GPEN

As mentioned the second act of the First Cup was Grand Prix de l'Ecole Navale where the 24s have been joined by their smaller sisters - the 18s. This was also a national championship for the French 18 teams. There were sailors aged from 15 to 70, from beginners to multiple Olympic medalists. Check out the photo gallery from Simon.

Slovenian Open Championship

Back in home waters, we are getting ready for the Slovenian Open Championship that will take place in Portorož on weekend 15th and 15th of June. The venue has moved to a new and attractive location, with the support of the Yacht Club Porotrož we are looking at another great race. Who will prevail this time and climb to the top of the podium?

Rund Um

Moving on to the only central European event on our Signature events calendar and the only one where you sail through three countries - Bodensee Rund Um. At the moment we are expecting seven 27s and at least two 24s and even one 18 is planning to join for the first time - yes it is allowed now.

European Championship

And we are back in Portorož! Also a new venue, this time right in the city centre will provide a superb setting for the fights on the water and party on shore. Don't forget the Val Navtika Cup on the preceding weekend - the combination of both races can provide a whole week of harsh competition, tasty culinary and sights to be seen.
