28th ICDE World Conference Update

The months are flying by as we countdown for this year’s ICDE World Conference on Online Learning. It is hard to believe there is just five months left before we look forward to welcoming everyone in Dublin for one of the major and most significant international conferences on this year’s events calendar. Arguably online distance education has never been more topical in today’s increasingly digitally connected world and the ICDE World Conference will provide an important platform for shaping the future, with a strong focus on promoting new models of lifelong learning and education for all.

#GPS19: Invitations issued, register to attend

The GPS is a forum specifically for Presidents, Vice-Chancellors, Principles and Rectors from ICDE Member institutions to engage in discussion, debate and learning in globally relevant topics. Invitations have been issued. Webinar on the forthcoming UNESCO OER Recommendations, 7 Jun 2019, 15:00-16:30 (CET)

ICDE Ambassadors for the global advocacy of OER and the UNESCO ICDE OER Chairs will reflect and discuss the recommendations during this webinar hosted by ICDE and the ICDE OER Advocacy Committee. A recent global study on OER from UNESCO, the impacts, achievements and challenge of OER will also be presented. Webinar participants are invited to a lively dialogue after the presentations are completed. eLearning Africa 2019, 23-25 Oct 2019, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire
 
Every year, eLearning Africa offers a 3-day comprehensive programme which brings together over 1,000 high-level decision makers, investors, experts and practitioners to share their perspectives on issues facing technology supported learning and training. The 14th edition of eLearning Africa will be held with the theme "The Keys to the Future: Learnability and Employability". Read more and register here.
Ninth Pan-Commonwealth Forum (PCF9)

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and The Open University (OU), United Kingdom will co-host COL’s ninth Pan-Commonwealth Forum (PCF9) at BT Murrayfield, Edinburgh, Scotland during 9 to 12 September 2019. This timing marks both the end of the OU’s 50th anniversary celebration and COL’s 30th anniversary year. Read more and register here.
International Conference on Distance Learning, 1-3 Aug 2019, Thailand

2019 UNESCO Kalinga Prize for the Popularisation of Science
ICDE, in partnership with UNESCO, is invited to nominate a candidate for the 2019 edition of the Prize. The Prize is an international distinction to reward the efforts of a person who has had a distinguished career as a writer, éditer, lecturer, radio/television/web programme director or film producer, which has enabled him/her to help interpret science, research and technology for thé public.
