CDC Webinar: Advancing Health Equity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Communities

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity will be holding a webinar focusing on advancing health equity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities. This webinar will feature Marianne Chung, MPH, Senior Director of Network Innovation at the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF), and Nadia Islam, PhD, an Associate Professor in the Department of Population Health at the NYU School of Medicine whose research focuses on developing culturally relevant community-clinical linkage models to promote health equity in disadvantaged communities. Rhode Island Pride Parade 2019

Join activists, allies, family, and friends in Downtown Providence on June 15 for the annual RI LGBTQ+ Pride Festival! The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) is a proud sponsor of the 2019 festival. We invite members of HEZ Collaboratives to join our RIDOH parade walking group, which will include RIDOH staff, family, friends, other state employees, and community partners. HEZ partners interested in conducting more direct outreach are also welcome to join RIDOH at our table booths between noon and 6 p.m. Register online to join the parade group.  Parade participants will be expected to arrive at the designated meeting point at Fulton and Dorrance Streets in downtown Providence by 6:45 p.m., with the Parade beginning at 8:30 p.m.. The parade loop around downtown Providence is approximately 1 mile and will last approximately 1-1.5 hours. The prime viewing area is on Weybosset Street near the Providence Performing Arts Center, with an ADA/accessibility viewing area at Empire & Weybosset Streets. Last year an estimated 100,000 people attended from the LGBTQIA+ community, along with allies, family, friends, community partners, entertainers, businesses, and faith-based organizations. Learn more about the Parade.
 

2019 Community Overdose Engagement Summit

Municipal leaders from across Rhode Island are invited to attend the 2019 Community Overdose Engagement (CODE) Summit. Hosted by Governor Gina M. Raimondo's Overdose Prevention and Intervention Task Force, the summit will feature a panel discussion with local municipal leaders and networking opportunities, and recognize the innovation and collaboration of community leaders throughout the state in addressing the local opioid overdose crisis.  Learn more and register. As an added bonus, the first 75 community members who register will receive a four-pack of PawSox tickets.
