Hold Out and Hold On

As we watch the new A14 emerging from incomprehensible mounds of earth, steel barriers have guided us and are now leading us on to new sections of road and junctions.  One day we know that the work of the master-planners will come together and the road will flow through green landscaped countryside with some graceful new vantage points for those who walk or cycle.

Less certain, perhaps, is our traverse through the mire of political turmoil, the steely determination of some politicians not to change, compromise or even, it seems, to listen.  What will the future hold in our relationships with the nations of the world?  What risks might be take with our 'new' friends across the Atlantic and our 'old' friends in Europe?

What is certain is God's sovereignty not ours, his purposes will be fulfilled and his kingdom come.  The question is not so much whether to stand with 'new' friends or 'old' but whether we can declare that our allegiance is with Jesus. In him we can have confidence. So let's hold out to his word and hold on to him.

What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear.  What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

Peter

The coffee shop is calling you...!

We really do not want to close the coffee shop on a Saturday but the current shortage of weekend volunteers is causing us concern.  We have lots of visitors to our lovely village over the summer months who stop to enjoy our delightful garden and homemade cakes - so if you think you could spare approximately 3 hours, on a monthly basis, June, July and August then please do get in touch. More hands make light work and allows us to keep our coffee shop open for everyone to enjoy.
