STANLEY KUBRICK'S THE SHINING AT CARNEGIE SCIENCE CENTER'S RANGOS CINEMA

"Here’s Johnny!" The Shining, Stanley Kubrick’s psychological horror based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel is coming to Pittsburgh’s largest screen, now in 4K resolution.

The horror film will be hitting the big screen, Friday through Sunday, June 14-16, at the Carnegie Science Center’s Rangos Giant Cinema.

In this horror classic, a family heads to an isolated hotel where an evil spirit influences the father into committing violent acts, while his psychic son sees horrific visions from the past and of the future.

HIRING PITTSBURGH CAREER EXPO

This Tuesday, June 11 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Westin Convention Center, join the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for a Career Expo open to all job seekers, along with special activities for veterans and real estate professionals. 

From 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., military veterans can enjoy a free continental breakfast, early access to the job fair, and a resource center and career counseling. TEDx PITTSBURGH 2019

Learn what millions of viewers around the world have seen by taking part in the largest TEDx event in the city: TEDxPittsburgh. This Saturday, June 15 at 11:30 a.m., using the TED format, this independently organized platform showcases the ideas, individuals, and innovations that are contributing to progress in the region.

Speakers will share ideas related to technology, entertainment and design that are making change happen in our region and in our world. This year’s program, Greater Than, returns to the historic Byham Theater in Downtown Pittsburgh in partnership with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. Learn more

Coneman Tip of the Week: 9th & Penn Garage Closure
As of Friday, May 31, the Pittsburgh Parking Authority’s 9th Street and Penn Avenue Garage in the Cultural District was closed in preparation for the start of demolition operations that will take place during June. At this time, both 9th Street and Penn Avenue are not anticipated to be impacted by this work and should not experience any street closures. The demolition is tied to the Parking Authority’s $25 million capital campaign to improve five garages over the next 5-10 years and the replacement project was timed to occur concurrently with the conclusion of a five-year repair program ensuring all of the other Downtown facilities would be operating at full capacity.

David Onorato, the Authority’s Executive Director, recently announced in a press release that the construction is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2020 and will be a “ParkSmart” gold certified structure.
