SPOTLIGHT ON PUBLIC ART
THE HOLEY KIDS "UNTITLED"

KERR PARK | 102 ROBERT S. KERR AVENUE

This month's spotlight on public art is the mural, Untitled, by the masked duo The Holey Kids, from OKC. The mural was a part of the enhancements made to Kerr Park through the Southwest Airlines’ Heart of the Community program, a grant it received in 2017. The four-sided mural was painted in August of 2018 and covers an outdoor pavilion in Kerr Park.

The Holey Kids strive to explore the importance of connection/collaboration in all of their creations, working to drop their individualism in order to be seen as one entity. Regulars on the Oklahoma City arts scene have probably seen them out and about: two skinny, masked, inseparable artists who call themselves Mother and Father Holey. Their work — simple, strange and beautiful — might not be as recognizable as the artists themselves, a jarring anomaly for two people who describe themselves as almost painfully reserved. Their incredible Kerr Park mural is a unique touch to the recently improved Oklahoma City park. Learn more and follow the Holey Kids here. Learn more about Kerr Park here.
